I'm almost reticent to write this review as I'd rather keep awareness of this Siblu holiday park to a minimum. However, credit where it is due, I must tell you just how lovely it is!
The location of the park is beautiful, huge fields, beautiful homes and large skies dominate. We've visited several Siblu camps in France (Vendees, Pierre Couchee to name but two) and this was the best by far. It has a genuine French, friendly, small camp feel, even though there's loads of caravans. I think the central square where the takeaway, games room, supermarket, bar and restaurant can be found give it a really unique feel.
We went in May half term and their season had only started five weeks previously, the site wasn't very busy but the attention and focus of the Entertainments Team and the cleaning and maintenance teams were second to none. Our kids (one aged 4 the other 8) really loved everything the camp had to offer:
Heated indoor pool (the outdoor pool was too cold to use)
All weather sports court
They especially loved some of the entertainments team; DJ Alex was such a natural with the kids, they all loved her. She seemed to genuinely love what she was doing and the kids thought she was brillliant. She put 100% into everything she did and her English was perfect. My son also had a soft spot for Stefan another member of the team who was equally as fantatsic with the children, a really nice guy. The whole team, even Frankie, a real character, were professional and talented!! Our kids chose not to attend the clubs (running an hour in the morning and an hour in afternoon five and a half days a week) but they were still welcomed and played with at the evening entertainments (usually a show from 7.30 / 8pm for an hour six nights a week and all the little ones stayed up for it, games, singing and dancing etc.) and it made their holiday.
The caravans were spaced comparatiively well apart, very unusual for these camps. During our stay there was a predominant British crowd, everyone friendly and very civilised! You could hear the late entertainments show from the caravan, just about, but that ended about 11pm. They have rules about noise and driving on the camp after certain hours. Mind you the kids were absolutely zonked every night so just passed out!
There seems to be quite a high percentage of privately owned caravans which I alsways take as a vote of confidence in these situtations.
The outdoor pool was clean and looked very inviting, slides and all, however it wasn't heated and was just too cold to contemplate. The indoor heated pool was a God send (the weather was very changeable) and the children really enjoyed it the main pool was heated to 28 degrees and the tiny toddlers pool was heated to 31 degrees. Again nice and clean. The indoor pool was the place where we suffered our only bad moment of the whole holiday. The signs and the park literature state quite clearly that it is open until 6pm weekdays and 6.30pm at weekends. However, the life guards (well a few not all, Justine was lovely) were a little militant about getting you out of the pool area itself by 6pm. This meant you were 'evacuated' at 5.50pm to ensure that they could lock the gates and go home "we only work until 6pm" was actually offered as an explanation when they were questioned! Their conduct and attitude couldn't have been more opposite to the rest of the staff on camp, a real shame. The pool hours were 10am until midday and then 2pm until 6pm.
We visited the local town of Blois whilst in the area and went to the Chateau (well you have too it's the Loire Valley after all) and marvelled at the serpents heads that come out of the house of magic opposite the ticket office!! We also went on a horse drawn carriage ride, which was reasonably priced and very enjoyable. The town was beautiful and a nice visit but INCREDIBLY expensive!!
So all in all a very enjoyable holiday and the park, well it's a real jewel in Siblus crown! But try to keep it to yourself we don't want everyone going!!!
