When we arrived, tried to use the self service check in, didn't work. So checked in with the hotel receptionist. She only spoke French, which was fine.
Although I'd prepaid with expedia, I had to pay again to secure my room. Which actually meant I ended up being charged twice.
We were on the third floor and when we opened the door to our room, I can't even describe how hot the room was. It was absolutely boiling. At the time, I was 25 weeks pregnant and I seriously think it was a danger to my health to be in that room. Our poor dog instantly started panting and crying as he was so hot.
The only option was to leave the door open, but because there were no windows to the rear of the room, it didn't create any through flow. We tried to open the window, but again had minimal impact. Plus, there were lots of people stood on the stairs drinking and smoking who openly were staring into our room. And, the door didn't have a latch and the window did have a latch. But it was broken. So we didn't feel safe leaving either open.
It was cooler to sit outside in the full sun than the hot box that was the room.
So we went and bought a fan, only to discover that there was only one plug socket in the room and the chord didn't reach the bed. So it moved the air around a bit, but didn't provide much comfort.
During the night, the toilet stopped flushing and the shower gel dispenser fell off the wall.
It was without a doubt the most uncomfortable night I have ever spent in a hotel. And, I have backpacked around Australia and Bali.
