“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

When we arrived, tried to use the self service check in, didn't work. So checked in with the hotel receptionist. She only spoke French, which was fine.

Although I'd prepaid with expedia, I had to pay again to secure my room. Which actually meant I ended up being charged twice.

We were on the third floor and when we opened the door to our room, I can't even describe how hot the room was. It was absolutely boiling. At the time, I was 25 weeks pregnant and I seriously think it was a danger to my health to be in that room. Our poor dog instantly started panting and crying as he was so hot.

The only option was to leave the door open, but because there were no windows to the rear of the room, it didn't create any through flow. We tried to open the window, but again had minimal impact. Plus, there were lots of people stood on the stairs drinking and smoking who openly were staring into our room. And, the door didn't have a latch and the window did have a latch. But it was broken. So we didn't feel safe leaving either open.

It was cooler to sit outside in the full sun than the hot box that was the room.

So we went and bought a fan, only to discover that there was only one plug socket in the room and the chord didn't reach the bed. So it moved the air around a bit, but didn't provide much comfort.

During the night, the toilet stopped flushing and the shower gel dispenser fell off the wall.

It was without a doubt the most uncomfortable night I have ever spent in a hotel. And, I have backpacked around Australia and Bali.

Perfectly acceptable and clean budget hotel for a business trip.
Plastic bathroom is a tad cosy but works well enough.
Good parking and no noise pollution from nearby motorway.
Onsite restaurant was adequate.

A nicely-priced stopover situated right next to the motorway. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast at a good price. Rooms are pretty basic but you get what you pay for. When we arrived reception was not yet open and the automated book-in was out of order so we had a one hour wait to actually get in which was a bit annoying.

We stayed at this hovel of a hotel after a very long drive. Had we not been so exhausted we would have complained and checked out immediately. The only positive thing I can say is that the receptionist was very pleasant when I checked in. Perhaps she was inwardly gloating as she knew what was going to greet us when we opened the door of our "cell".
Starting with the door, which didn't seal properly and let in cold air and all the traffic noise and moving on to the beds that resembled prison beds with horrible covers. The head of the bed was just inside the door so it was cold and draughty. The room itself was tiny, one person could walk around at a time which wouldn't have been too bad had the room been clean. It was dirty, grubby and everything was damaged and scruffy, the skirting was hanging off the wall and there was one piece missing completely. We had to kill some sort of large beetle type insect on the ceiling and shuddered to think whether any of his friends were hiding! The pillows were the worst we have ever experienced, likened to resting your head on a bag of marbles. All this before we even looked in the bathroom. That was very dirty and worn. The grouting was brown, there was hardly any toilet paper and it had a very nasty odour. There was no plug in the sink which was a bit of a blow as neither of us was brave enough to use the shower.
To sum up, do not stay in this establishment there is a Kyriad and a B&B group hotel just down the road which is where we will be going next time.

Here I am again. A gluton for punisment. Same unclean, small and smelly room. Even though we had booked a room the place was locked when we arrived and the automatic check in system did not work. Had to get someone from next door hotel to contact manager to let us in, the managers normal telelphone being on answerphone. Not good when you have just travelled 350 miles on a motorbike and its 30c+ outside. Very noisy next to main road and motorway. By now I have realised that these hotels are not even good enough for an overnight stop.
