“Excellent impression”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

I stayed in this hotel for six nights in July 2014 with my family(12 and 15 years old kids)although the reviews I read were average if not negative as I stayed in novotel hotel five other occasions and I have good memories from them. This hotel was the BEST Novotel I ever stayed with nice rooms, excellent breakfast allthough the same every day we stayed there (with breakfast room especially for family )The metro is around the corner there is a shopping centre very close and from CDG there is a bus stop direct(351) and a beautiful park is very close as well. Also free internet was great with supesonic speed and the fitness room was nice. The reception was very helpful for every problem and after the checkout or before checkin there is certain space for waiting before leaving without the noise of the lobby.Very very nice hotel indeed....

The hotel is located in Paris Est, (The east of Paris), the neighbourhood is horrible and it is very difficult to get there by foot. However there are lots of transportation facilities (the metro and the bus station are nearby). The lobby is beautiful and you can have breakfast there. The rooms are quite nice but you cannot open the windows, so it is very very hot inside. You can prepare your own tea in the room. That's a very nice detail.

The location of this hotel was so so. I did not feel very safe being anywhere outside of the hotel, once i was in the lobby I felt very at home and safe. Very busy hotel, lots of people going in and out which I love. I booked this trip through europamundo. Breakfast was very bad, eggs were not cooked and food was cold. Room was small as was the bathroom. The room has no microwave. Carpets were VERY VERY dirty and room was humid. The hotel does not offer any activities, no pool or anything. Hotel does have a small gym and suana it is very nice.

This hotel, though a bit outside Paris, is well connected as the Metro station is hardly 2-3 minutes from the hotel. There is a big shopping complex also near the Metro station. The hotel itself is good with a big lobby and almost all facilities being there. The room was also quite big and clean.
However, there were a few surprising incidents from the reception staff. They charged my personal credit card 2 days' before I arrived though the card details were given as a guarantee and they should have charged me on arrival. They had a big display for messages at the reception but this was never updated. I got two parcels from TNT and another courier company. I tracked the parcels through web and came to know that they were delivered to the hotel in the morning. When I returned to the hotel that evening they claimed to have not got anything for me and there were no messages also for me. When I insisted, they after great reluctance found one. Again when I gave the name of the person who had received the other package, the reception staff told me that she will be there in the morning, so pls. collect it next morning. Again after insisting, they some how found it. The next issue was at check-out. To my surprise they had charged me for 2 breakfasts for all the days when I stayed alone and never took breakfast at the hotel. Only after one senior reception staff came that the matter was resolved. All these issues are not expected from Novotel. Kindly take corrective action so that others do not suffer similarly.

The location of this hotel was perfect for our tour group of high school students and the adults who tolerate them. We had a 5 minute walk to the Metro station and then only a few stops and changes to the major attractions. It is on the outskirts of the city, but still close enough to be very convenient. If you are planning to visit Pere Lachaise cemetery, it's right around the corner.

The lobby is large, modern, and clean. There are computers to use, but I never had time to use them. There is a lounge area and bar for those who like to partake in that. I never had time to drink or socialize during my time there, but it was very inviting.

The breakfast was excellent. They offered both hot and cold options with plenty of variety. I didn't try the hot options (eggs, sausage, etc.) but those who did said it was fine.

The rooms are clean, large, and have refrigerators. The fridge doesn't get very cold, but it was enough to keep my Coke Light chilly for the morning wakeup. The room had several outlets that were conveniently located near the bed so I could use my phone as an alarm while it was charging, AND I could use my hot rollers in the bathroom as well.

The bathroom was fine except the tub was a little slanted which made standing up in the shower a bit of a balancing act. This is typical for Europe, so I didn't have too much of a problem with it. The room, again, was very clean and modern.

The hotel offers wifi, which was reliable and functional from the rooms.

I never asked the bar for ice. Those who read Mrs. Kenobi's reviews are familiar with my dysfunctional relationship with ice. In Europe, I realize that ice is not a normal convenience. I drop my expectation for that, and all other continents besides North America, and just deal with whatever is offered. When I travel, my ankles swell due to an unfortunate subway tumbling accident in Tokyo in 1998, so I generally ask for ice to bring that swelling down when I'm traveling with a lot of walking. However, our tour was so busy and full for the two nights we were in Paris, I just dealt with the swelling and didn't bother with asking the bar for ice. Sorry for my lack of information in this matter.

From my experience, I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Paris. The location is convenient, and the hotel is clean and functional. It's actually one of the nicest hotels I've had traveling with a teenage tour group. For the price, it's a great value.

We stayed at the Novotel Paris Est for four days and it was often busy, but everything moved quickly. The rooms were a comfortable size and the maids kept them clean. The decor was basic and functional. The free internet worked reliably. The front desk staff were great. They were friendly, helpful, and resourceful.

The area around the hotel offers little to do--actually, there is nothing. The nearby mall offers very little except a bank where you can exchange currency or use an ATM. The best thing to do is to take the five minute walk to the Gallieni Metro stop. It is the starting point of Line 3, so you can always get a seat. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the Opera Station and the Louvre and D'Orsay are a couple of stops away on a connecting line. If you have mobility issues, beware that the Metro stations will be a challenge.

There are a few options to get to the hotel from the Charles de Gaulle Airport. The Metro is the cheapest method, but it requires changing trains and long climbs up and down stairs. We took a taxi during morning rush hour and that got pricey--€50. The driver told us that some mornings are even busier. If you reserve a car service, you will not have to worry about a taxi fare being unpredictable.

The Cafe was a good surprise. The food was good and the wait staff were attentive. The beverages were very expensive, but you'll find that in almost every Paris restaurant. The decor reminded me of something that was in a former Soviet Bloc restaurant.

Room Tip: The shower: The dials might confuse you. To select the shower head you prefer, turn the dial on the...
