One of the first challenges is finding this restaurant. It is situated on a very busy thoroughfare across from the Seine. It does not look like the most inviting place from the outside, but wait to you enter, meet the Chef, and are introduced to his cooking.
Unlike many restaurants, the Chef tries to talk to all of the restaurant patrons. In addition, he will take your order, ask you for feedback, and advise you on what he believes are the choices that are particularly good that day or evening. He says that he does not speak English and that is true if fluency is your metric, but he speaks enough English to help you through the menu. Also, if he does not there generally is a waitress that does speak English.
I have eaten lunch and dinner here and have had several outstanding meals. The menu changes frequently and there are daily specials. The wine list is also very inviting.
The restaurant is smallish, but the tables are situated to allow you to have an uninterrupted conversation.
I have been taken to the restaurant twice by Parisians – which must say something of the quality of the cuisine.
The prices, by the way, are very reasonable.
What really stands out is the “personal” interest taken by the chef who is greeting, taking orders, and preparing many of the outstanding dishes.
