Fraser Suites Harmonie Paris La Defense
Ranked #2 of 16 Hotels in Courbevoie
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 21 January 2009

Website is misleading as to the quality of the rooms. They desperately need to be refitted. The bathroom was the only room which was ok. The door to the toilet opened outwards and onto the corridor. Red carpet really was a poor selection - a mistake in my view.
Cupboards were very noisy.
Staff were very helpful and professional.
Common laundry floor was pretty poor and the machine leaked.
The difference between Fraser Suites in Sydney and those in Paris were sadly night and day. I have stayed twice in Sydney and have been very impressed with the level of accommodation.
Paris was a great disappointment and a far cry.
Access to the hotel is a little difficult especially if with pram or luggage from public transport.
Basically this hotel is overselling itself and should adjust photos to match the level of accommodation.
Overall the stay was just ok - I did not have to leave the hotel but it was just a great disappointment given the build up.

I heard a lot about paris hotels that their rooms are usually very small and not comfortable. But this suites hotel is really different.

Very large suite with all the equipment you may need. The kitchen is fully equipped. The staff is very helpful, and the breakfast is rich but not included in the room rates and little expensive. We were concerened about the fact that the defense area is a little far from the heart of paris, but thanks to the metro, it is easy and cheap to go where ever you want.

The hotel is ideal for families.

This is a very nice hotel with easy access to line 1 on the metro (which is a very central line). I would recommend this place to anyone going to Paris with a larger group or a family because of the amenities of the rooms. My family had a great experience here.

We just got back from staying here and were very impressed. Our apartment was clean and well equipped with plenty of storage space. We drove so were able to take a few extra things like milk with us but I would agree with other travellers that it you want a cup of coffee it's a good idea (there was a small complimentary basket with 2 teabags and 2 sachets of coffee/milk but we stayed 3 nights and this wasn't replenished)

Access to the centre of Paris is quick - about 5 mins walk to the Metro and 8 mins on it. Surrounding area is just office blocks and a small shopping centre but that's not what you've come to see.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We found breakfast a little expensive at Euro 14 for what is basically a continental breakfast so only did that once. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it (was also recommended to us)

We have just come back from a four day trip to Paris. There were four of us in our group (two adults and two teenagers) so it was quite a challenge to find somewhere reasonably priced to fit in with our tight budget that wasn't a complete flea pit. Fraser Suites was absolutely perfect! We booked a one bedroom apartment (double bed plus two single size sofa beds in the living room for the kids) for a very good rate online with Lastminute.com, which also included breakfast. We arrived at Fraser Suites two hours before the alloted check-in time expecting to drop our suitcases off and go sightseeing. However, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and gave us a room straight away as there was one available. We were also given Paris maps and visitor guide booklets about where to go and eat etc without asking! In terms of our accommodation - as this was my 7th trip to Paris I kept my expectations in check as experience has taught me that rooms tend to be small and decor and cleanliness can be hit and miss at the best of times. However when we entered the apartment we were absolutely amazed (and absolutely delighted) with how spacious it was and were impressed with the standard of decor and cleanliness. Although the hotel is not located within the city of Paris itself (it's a business location and therefore more concrete than traditional Parisienne architecture), there is a metro station on line 1 (Esplanade de la Defense) within a five minute walk which will have you at the Louvre within 15 minutes and most other attractions within 20/25 minutes or less involving only one change of line (if at all). Trains to Versailles run from the station at La Defense itself, which is only a 15 minute walk. There is also a small supermarket nearby to stock up on any essentials you may need. The kitchen within the apartment has all the basics that you would need to prepare simple meals. Also within easy walking distance at la Defense is a great indoor shopping centre which has an excellent array of shops and cafes/bistros. We really enjoyed our stay at Fraser Suites and would highly recommend it for families or anyone looking to get a little bit more than what the usual hotels offer in terms of space, value for money, flexibility of preparing your own meals etc.

Stayed here over the last weekend in November and would certainly recommend. We had two one bed apartments and were amazed at how spacious they were - large bedroom with balcony, large lounge/dining room with access onto balcony, small kitchen well stocked with equipment and a clean spacious bathroom with lovely l'occitane toiletries.
The reception staff were great and provided us with maps and guide books which was really nice.
The location is super and la defense itself is an interesting area to walk around with great views to the arc de triomphe and eiffel tower, especially at night.
If arriving by ryanair, take the shuttle bus to Port Maillot and from there the metro to l'esplanade de la defence. The hotel is a 2 min walk, downstairs next to the Ibis.
The only complaint we had was with the room service food, which it has to be said was awful. Don't order it. Cook your own or visit one of the restaurants in the shopping centre at la defense or elsewhere. We found the little bistros were best providing good food and reasonable prices.

We booked this location via expedia, based on the fact that it was located in La Defense, which was excellent as our 4-day trip was for business. We found the staff to be really helpful, especially as we had arrived early for our reservation. They managed to get us into a lovely one bedroom apartment. The decor was a bit tired, but it was clean, neat, spacious and well laid out.

The facilities are really good because it allows you to treat the place as a home from home.....you can cook your own meals, have breakfast in the apartment when you want and just relax as if it was your own space. You have all the basic utensils, cutlery and crockery you need.

We managed to use the fitness suite whilst there, which was well-equipped with standard machines and thoroughly clean. You have the use of a treadmill, cross trainer, bike, rower and hand weights. No one else used it the whole time we were there.

We did have breakfast one morning and found it to be an adequate continental breakfast, but a bit steep at 12 euros per person. Still, the staff were very helpful, cheerful and all in all it's a great place, with a great location.

Our only gripe, which considering the location is right in the heart of the business district is that internet connection is not included in the price. it's also a bit of a rip off at 17 euros for 24hr access or 8 euros if you wanted one hour usage. We did mention this to the staff and they said that many people had complained about this. Frankly, nowadays internet access is not a luxury but a necessity for many people, so cashing in by charging extra for access, really did put a dampener on what is, in all other ways, a lovely hotel. It really was disappointing.
