Hotel Gabriel Paris-Issy
Reviewed 14 October 2013

This was my fifth trip to Paris. So I have a pretty good idea of what to expect in the way of hotels. This hotel was on the outskirts of town. So the price was right. We were a two block walk from the Metro 12 stop. We didnt eat breakfast in the hotel. McDonalds is across the street from the Metro station. The room was small but relatively clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They spoke English. The elevator fits FOUR people: which translated to us and our two backpacks. We took the steps most of the time for the exercise. The room key must be turned in when you leave and picked up at the front desk upon your return. This was not inconvenient at all. The shower walls had mildew in the creases and just needed a good bleach spray down. Close the toilet lid before you shower. The shower "door" is about 12 inches wide and does not protect the bathroom at all. There were only three outlets (one next to the bed, one in the bathroom, and one for the television). We had two ipads, two cellphones, and two camera batteries to charge. So we unplugged the tv. I suggest bringing a power strip, if you are "connected" like us. The BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT negative was that it was 47 degrees Fahrenheit outside (during the day) and the room had AIR CONDITIONER only. We were told that it was not the SEASON yet. So we asked for a second blanket which never materialized. This was ridiculous! We dreaded coming back to the room at the end of a long cold day knowing that it would be freezing in the room just like outside. We steamed the bathroom in the morning to heat it up. I would recommend using the hair dryer but it was designed to only work while you hold the button down. You could rig it with electrical tape or bring a heater. Both of which are crazy when it is October in Paris and the hotel is withholding heat.

Room Tip: Bring power cord for charging electronics. Bring a space heater or be sure to get an extra blanket...

We Booked this hotel for our honeymoon (August 2013).
Being on a tight budget we booked through Easyjet and were pleased with the price of the hotel and flights together.
This hotel is very clean, and the evening staff were very friendly and helpful.
We arrived to a nice room, not massive but it suited us fine.
The plug in the sink in the bathroom did not seem to fit but once we removed it there were no problems.
This hotel is mainly used for buisness/short stays but we stayed for 7 nights.
Not what we would consider a tourist hotel but the metro is only a few mins away which takes you to all the sights, a few shops about and in an overall nice area.
Breakfast is worth booking before hand as we spent 20 euro's on one breakfast for two people! The selection is nice, a buffet style.. we ate our money's worth.
Don't forget to save some money for the city tax when you check out!
We had a very nice stay, was perfect for sleeping, washing and then exploring the city of Paris.
Rooms were cleaned daily.
The day staff did not seem to be as welcoming as the evening/ night staff, one lady made a point of taking our key and making sure the message was across that we needed to leave our key before going out!
The staff all speak basic English (some better than others).
We had a less pleasant transfer situation when using Resorthoppa.
The transfer to the hotel from the airport was fine but when returning it was another story.
We called the number given to us to re-confirm our return transfer the day before, booked for 5.30AM our flight was at 8.50AM.
The next morning, ready to go.. 5.30 and no driver.
We called the emergency number and were told the driver was on his way.
20 mins later and the driver called the hotel with "I have a problem with my car, i'm not coming, sorry".
At this point the receptionist was very helpful and offered to call us a taxi and to get it as cheap as he could.
After calling the emergency resorthoppa number a second time we were hung up on and every time after before someone answered.
We were panicking as we were very low on money (Paris is expensive) and felt angry that our pre paid transfer did not sort out something for us.
After a run (literally sprinting) to the cash point we very luckily had 60 Euro's left.
That was enough to get to the airport (it would have cost 70).
Be very careful when using resorthoppa in Paris as we get the impression that since you pay in advance, once you are at your hotel they couldn't care less.

tiny room, the "upscale double twin room" at extra charge has 2 single beds pressed so close together it is like having a double bed cut with a chainsaw in the middle into two beds, no space beside the beds to even open a luggage, TV reception a channel choice exceptionally poor, walls must be made of paper, you will hear the people in the next and above rooms talking, pray they do not start making out after midnight - very unpleasant hearing moans, and beds squeeking, you will hear cell phones ringing, cleaning stuff talking in the narrow corridor behind the flimsy doors, that close with a loud bang. The elevator did not work 2 days out of our 5 days stay. Breakfast is not worth the steep money. On the positive side, this is a quieter are in Paris so street noise is no problem, two food shops nearby offer quality foods, metro is just 5 minutes away walking , a bus stop just outside the hotel. The staff was pleasant, speak English, helpful. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom.

Room Tip: no swimming pool, stay away from the tiny elevator, pray you have quiet neighbors.

The hotel and rooms were well presented, clean and very well placed for a budget city break if you are happy to use the metro. However, our trip was ruined by the dread of trying to get into our room each night! On our first night we spent 10 minutes trying to get into our room, eventually gave up and went to ask the receptionist to help us, who greeted us with "if you've opened it once you can do it again" luckily another guest offered us his assistance, even he had some difficulty. The next morning I went to ask a different member of staff if someone could look at why our door wasn't working, however I got the same response and "every guest has the same problem". Which confused us as surely you would resolve a largely spread problem?
Nothing was done about our door and not even sympathy was shown when I showed them the huge red marks I had on my hand/fingers from trying to break into my room!!
Would not recommend this hotel at all, staff were rude, unhelpful and the keys to your room will not work!! Also, rooms very small, good luck using the toilet in room 22 without getting bruises on your knees!!

This is a modest hotel whose main attraction is the 4 to 5 minute walking distance to the Corentin Celton station on the no. 12 metro line. It is also quite close to the town of Issy with some nice restaurants (such as La Scala), but for the rest it has little to offer.

Even though the building seems to be originally constructed as a hotel, the inside walls seem to be made of paperboard: the rooms are extremely noisy. And very very small. The good news is that the traffic noise from the busy roads on either side of the hotel are less disturbing. Also breakfast is quite decent (the usual croissants and coffee, but also yoghurt and decent orange juice)

The hotel is extremely good located - just 5 minutes from metro station, restaurants are also nearby. We had 4 nights there - and no spite at all! Clean room, clean and comfortable bad. Nice view from window. WI-FI works in room as well (not only in entrance as in many hotels). Only breakfast was really "french" - coffee, croissants, milk and cornflakes. So NO bread, no ham and no fruits at all.
