“Sehr gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis / very good value at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2012

The hotel is in Puteaux about 400m from the next Metro-station and with ligne1 you have an excellent access to the 'royal axle" La Defénse - Arc de triomphe - Champs Elysèes - Concorde - Louvre - Chatelet.
The rooms are small but very tidy and the bathroom is very very clean. If you are all the day on tour in Paris and just need a place for the night this place is a good choice. Unfortunately the rooms on the front side become loud in the morning if you are used to sleep while the windows are open - due to the business on the street. If you keep the 3-pane-window shut it will be very silent, you won't hear the traffic outside
We stayed for a weekend and had not so many luggage, if you have clothes for two or three weeks the room and closet might be far too small.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and had some recommendations where to go in Puteaux
We did not have breakfast at the hotel but ate at the market (on sunday) and at a brasserie nearby. The area is full of restaurants of different nationalities: japanese, vietnamese, libanese, thai and much more and we choose to try something new.
We will choose this hotel again for our next trip to Paris!

I've given this hotel a 3/5 but really it deserves a 3.5/5 if TripAdvisor would allow me to give that mark. It is located in Puteaux, in a quiet western suburb just on the outskirts of Paris (in Zone 2 of the Paris region transport network though the nearest metro station is Esplanade de la Defense where Zone 1 tickets remain valid), right next to La Defense, the business district. It takes about 15 minutes on the metro to get into the heart of Paris and it's a fast and easy journey costing around1.5 euros single. Another reviewer below has posted very good directions to get from the station to the hotel, the only thing I would add is that you must take the Puteaux-Michelet exit from the metro station (there are 3 other exits so be aware) or the directions are not valid.

The hotel is small and rooms are compact but cosy. The bathrooms have been renovated recently with brilliant showers. Overall the hotel is slightly dated but quiet and clean. The free tea/coffee/hot chocolate is a small addition but a very valuable one and is much appreciated by the guests. It comes from a machine but the quality is very good and it tastes fresh. The breakfast in the morning is excellent (cold meats, cheese, boiled eggs, waffles, cereals, bread, fruit, yoghurt, juices, croissants). It would have been great to have more French style pastries but overall no complaint. The staff are reasonably friendly but it must be remembered this is France where customer service standards are not what you would expect in the UK or North America. In short, you don't get many smiles but they are helpful (the occasional strop but they work very long shifts). The thing which does need looking at is security. Reception staff who you might not have seen before due to a change of shift do not check your identity before handing room keys out and this is disconcerting.

Some very good local restaurants in the area (particularly the Arab ones) and it is well worth walking around Puteaux town centre to have lunch since it is great quality and much cheaper than the centre of Paris. Excellent connections to Versailles and Paris St Lazare (by SNCF Transilien) from Puteaux station which is left out of the hotel and about a 10 minute walk past the town hall. Take a short walk (or the local bus, Busolien 2, the stop is on the same road as the hotel, turn left out of the hotel and walk to the end of the road) to the Grande Arche de la Defense also, the heart of the business district in Paris. Lots of shops there also but mostly chains. The boutique type of bakers, patissiers and chocolatiers are in Puteaux itself.

Last mention to the hardworking chambermaids who clean the room well and work very hard. Even though I turned up an hour late for breakfast one day, they found croissants and eggs for me which was much appreciated. This is a good value hotel and I would stay there again.

This was a very nice and comfortable hotel. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. The rooms are comfortable with the only drawback being some very squeaky stairs. Coffee and tea are available 24 hours and there are some great restaurants nearby.

The Le Dauphin is situated in a quiet area of Puteau a stones throw from La Defense. It is a 5 minute brisk walk to Metro line 1, which will get you to the Louvre/Rivoli station in 25 minutes. There are a couple of good restaurants nearby and a small general store across the road.
This is a 'compact' hotel, bedrooms(air-conditioned) and shower/wc rooms are small but very well furnished and smart. Breakfast is standard for France, coffee, orange juice, croisants, bread, meat, cheese, jam etc. Coffee and tea are available 24hours in reception.

The hotel staff are friendly and very helpful.

This hotel is an ideal location for a 'cheap' weekend in Paris, provided you do not mind the 30 minute trip into the centre. However, it is not for those who like plenty of room in bedrooms and showers.
