Hyatt Regency Paris Charles de Gaulle
Ranked #6 of 31 Hotels in Roissy-en-France
Reviewed 22 May 2009

After tooling around France/Benelux for ten days, we decided to camp out at this grand hotel for our last night before returning to the States. Spacious ground floor/restaurant a little bleak but our Regency Club level room was spacious, superbly appointed with generous bedding, towels and all out luxury.
This hotel, while saying it is at Charles de Gaulle, is a shuttle away. Find the hotel pick up and pray you have a European phone to call them from the hotel sign posted with phone numbers, or just wait till they come around, like we did!

However, the rooms are not nearly as nice. The bellman who took our luggage up was wonderful and so informative. The buffets and food offered was ridiculously overpriced, as was taking anything out of the mini-bar. It was double the price of the other hotels in France. This is NOT centrally located, but the metro is a short hotel bus away.

Stayed here for one night for work. Rooms are nice and clean, was put in a queen bed. Wasn't as noisy as I expected of an airport hotel which was alright.

Had breakfast at the buffet downstairs which was pretty good, and even had all you can drink Nespresso coffee. Would have liked more cold meat items, and having Kimchi and korean soup on the hot buffet seemed really out of place.

Gyms were pretty small. Would have prefered bottles available to gym users instead of having to use a water cooler. The equipment however was all very new, esp. the treadmills, eliptical machines and bikes.

I didn't pay for the room, so cannot comment as to weather it is worth the money or not, but I had a pleasent stay here. If there was a business conference here then I can definately see the appeal, otherwise if you want to get to the city it's a bit of a pain because the bus the have to Paris leaves at 10am going and 6pm coming back (5 euros one way), otherwise you're left taking the Air France bus or RER train which is a real pain.

I wanted to give this hotel a good review - it certainly looked impressive on paper. However, I'm paying 250 Euros a night and there is just too much missing from this 'premium' airport hotel to justify a better rating.

Firstly, it is used by flight crews so don't get stuck behind the huge queue at check in when a whole Emirates 747 crew arrive! Secondly, this is a business hotel located at the airport, hence there are a few basic prerequisites for any business traveller: An iron and ironing board in the room (not provided), a usable desk (no lights anywhere near my desk, or lamps which are moveable to be able to read properly at the desk), and enough power points to use your laptop on the desk (one, not working, hidden behind the TV cabinet which is too heavy to move).

Finally, the broadband is hideously expensive - in this day and age, this is just blatent profiteering.

Overall, this hotel is equipped no better than an Ibis, just with bigger rooms and twice the price.

Stayed here three nights in August as my flight to Africa was delayed. Nice property, lot's of water features, modern lighting etc. But, the food and drinks at this location are very pricey! My casual dinner alone was over 60 euros! Nothing much else close to the hotel except one small cafe, where I had the rest of my meals. I don't know why airport hotels have to charge so much for their incidentals, guess they know you have very little if any other choices.

I stayed at the Hyatt Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) for an eight night business trip earlier this month. The hotel is very stylish, clean and modern with an excellent staff – it certainly deserves its four star rating! The property is pricey though (especially for US citizens given the high Dollar/Euro exchange rate). It is geared towards business travelers and its location makes it a great place for anyone briefly stopping through Paris, but for anything longer I would look closer to Paris.

Front Desk: Checking in and out was a breeze and the staff was very courteous and professional.

Bedroom: the bedroom and bathroom were very nicely appointed, in a minimalist style, and are large by European standards but only of average size by US standards. Iron and ironing boards are not in the rooms, but a call to the front desk resulted in one being delivered within 10 minutes. The bedroom has a mini-bar but I could not even bring myself to look at the price list. The TV was a flat panel and had a decent selection of channels in various languages, but most of the English ones were news channels (CNN, BBC). Note: Some of the channels have some pretty explicit sexual content on late at night, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Bathroom: The tub has a hinged, glass partition that serves as a shower curtain (try as I may, I could not keep water from getting on the floor). Soaps & shampoo were kept amply stocked. An additional plus: the bathroom had wash clothes in it which can be a rarity in European bathrooms!

Parking: is ample and convenient but not covered. Free parking was included in my room rate, but I believe it runs about 20 Euros or so a day.

Location: this hotel is convenient to Charles De Gaulle Airport – but not so close that traffic noise is a problem. Unfortunately there is very little else around except other hotels and businesses. So if you’re looking for a hotel that you can get out and walk around and see things – this isn’t it! The good thing though is that they have a frequent shuttle to CDG and to Paris (I had a car so I never used it).

Restaurants: The restaurant serves very good food, but be prepared to pay for it! I had a great smoked salmon pasta dish (18 Euros) a bottle of water (7 Euros!!) and one beer (another 7 Euros!!), which is not all that bad for Paris until you factor in the exchange rate and it totals over $50. The breakfast buffet is also very good; about 27 Euros for the American (hot) buffet and around 18 for the cold one. To reduce expenses, I found myself going more often to the Courtpaille restaurant just across the parking lot. The food there is decent but not as good as the Hyatt and the atmosphere is a lot more causal. Entrees were around 10-13 Euros and the multi-course options were around 17.

Exercise room: is small, but very clean and modern. There are had some free weights, a weight bench, a couple of treadmills, 2 stationary bicycles, and 4 or 5 workout machines. All were high quality and in excellent shape. Towels are also provided.

Overall a great hotel with very friendly, cordial and professional staff that really seems to take an interest in you!!

Having been "bumped" from our flight, the airline booked us into another sub-standard hotel. After going back to CDG to complain, we were told to pick our own hotel and so we ended up at the Hyatt- not a chain I had used before. Having had several hours on standby, running around getting awful customer service and some six hours after we arrived at CDG, we pitched up at the Hyatt, hot, upset, irritated and tired. Immediately on arrival the receptionist put us completely at ease and the surroundings started to relax us at once. A bright airy cool atrium led to spacious elevators and wide corridors. The feeling of space was mirrored in the rooms which were large and very comfortable with all mod cons. We had no need for internet or phone access and encountered none of the issues of which other correspondants complain. The restaurant staff were attentive (ask for un caraffe d'eau and you will avoid the more expensive bottled variety) and the food was as good and as similarly priced as anywhere we had eaten in the previous week in Paris- its a pricey city all round these days. I can't speak highly enough of the hotel and its staff, who gave us a very peaceful and relaxing night just when we needed it most.
