Best Western Paris CDG Airport
Ranked #19 of 29 Hotels in Roissy-en-France
Reviewed 31 July 2014

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Paris CDG Airport for 3 nights as part of an organised coach tour (Leger Holidays) to see the finale of the Tour de France 2014.

We arrived late in the evening (around 9pm) but were informed that the coach drivers had phoned ahead to let them know that there was a coach-load of hungry Brits turning up. You'd have thought, therefore that they'd have been a little prepared... Unfortunately not.

Evening meals and breakfasts were so dis-organised, with food running out and not being replaced. There were no trays to carry your juice, coffee, and plate to the dining room, and breakfast was served in a long thin corridor that made it difficult to fight your way against the tide of hungry customers to get to your table.

To be fair, on our last day, breakfast was much better, but our coach was allocated the first breakfast slot (06:45) so there was lots of everything available. Every morning should have been like this, though.

So - enough of the food.

The room itself was large and comfortable, with quiet air conditioning and good double-glazing (we couldn't hear the constant stream of jets taking off / landing at the airport next to the hotel with the windows closed). The beds were EXCELLENT and extremely comfortable. The bedding was immaculately presented each day, and the room kept very clean.

Other facilities included a digital lock safe, good-sized fridge, tea and coffee-making equipment, flat screen TV (there were a couple of English channels), comfy chairs etc. Our bathroom had a full-sized bath and shower attachment, and showergel and handwash, although no soap, or shampoo etc (take your own !).

The lifts were a bit confusing - you need to use your room key to activate the lift to go UP, but you can return to the lobby without your key. The were also very slow. DO NOT use the stairwell... the doors are alarmed and you get a stroppy Frenchman shouting at you for attempting to use the stairs.

Overall, the hotel was OK, but they REALLY need to sort out the eating arrangements. The main restaurant appeared to be closed the whole time we were there, with customers directed to the breakfast room for evening meals. There is a great pizza place a ten-minute walk away in the Roissy-en-France village if you don't want to pay hotel rates for food.

We weren't there for the hotel experience, and as somewhere to sleep I can't really fault it - comfortable and quiet... but eat somewhere else and be prepared to faff about with waiting for the lift.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms apparently had no fridge. We were in room 252 which has two large beds, a fridge...

We spent three nights at this hotel staying from the 25th to 28th of July 2014, We had travelled to Paris with others to watch the final day of the tour de France cycle race. We arrived late in the evening and the coach drivers had arranged booking in for us, this was much appreciated after the hours spent travelling. Its difficult to criticise the hotel so far as the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms were concerned, some of the rooms had fridges but ours did not. The rooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities but supplies were markedly light (only two coffee sachets for night and morning for the two of us}. What let the hotel down was its location, staff and breakfast arrangements. The hotel is great for the airport but its a long way from the city and the coach drivers charge 15 euros each if you hitch a ride in and you are not on one of the organised trips. This can add an unexpected expense if you are on a limited budget or like doing your own thing.
We found the staff to be generally miserable and unhelpful they often seemed out of their depth and unable to make any decisions on their own.
We heard some nice comments about the hotel restaurant although we didn't eat there. What really let the hotel down was the shambolic organisation at breakfast time. Breakfast is served at 0730 and their are coachloads of people to be fed. The menu is limited but ok coffee, tea and juices are usually available. but what lets the whole thing down is that breakfast which is self service is served in a dead end corridor and the feeding frenzy which takes place is embarrassing as people try to feed themselves. I am of the opinion that because this hotel basically serves the needs of the overnighting airport traveller the three nights we spent there constitutes a long stay. As an example I quote our last morning when we were told to put our luggage on the coach by 0700 hrs, have breakfast and leave by 0800 hrs. We dis as instructed and on entering the dining room we were stopped by a member of staff who told us that we were not booked in and that he had no space for us. Eventually he relented and allowed us to go in with the proviso that we were to be out by 0735. but at least we had something to eat.
I am a member of the B.W. Rewards Club so I have nothing against the group but it must be said that there is a great need for improvement in the case of this hotel. I am also reporting this matters to the BW group's website as well.

As we arrived by coach our immediate thoughts were that it looked ok. Our room and bathroom were large although a bit dull. Bed was very comfortable and there were the usual touches like a fridge and safe. However, when you looked closer the room needed maintenance e.g. the bathroom door could not shut, the carpet was damp by my side of the bed so evidently there's a leak from the bathroom. Also the bathroom floor could have been cleaner and the windows were filthy. Breakfast time for groups is in a separate area and is an absolute shambles. The best thing about the place is that it's a short walk down to Roissy en France village which has some decent restaurants (especially Madame est servie) and a supermarket. It's certainly a much better location that any other airport hotels I've stopped in a round the world. We used the bus to get from the train station at airport terminals 1/3 one day and this was quick and only 2 euros. The hotel did not offer a free shuttle.

This hotel took a long time to get to from the airport. It is a nice hotel, but they wanted to charge a lot for the breakfast, in which we did not partake. One of the receptionists was very cold, the other was nice and helpful. The area is weird, just hotels, but I guess there was a town close Evidently this caters to people who have to stay overnight for a flight or tour groups

The location and free shuttle service make this hotel ideal for getting to Charles De Gaulle Airport. Other than that, it's not that wonderful of a hotel.

The room was fairly large, but it needs updating. The bathroom had a smell to it as well. We ate in the bar for a late dinner. The food is ok, but very pricey...just as you would expect when there are no other options around.

The best thing about the hotel is their staff. The front desk was wonderful and spoke to me in both French and English. They were helpful in answering any questions we had.
