“Great staff at a very good hotel”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

We (family with toddler / baby) used the hotel as a stop over on our drive from the UK to the Dordogne.

It is clean, new with great sized rooms fantastic staff and secured parking. The format of the bigger room where you take a microwave dinner back to probably doesn't suit all, but actually it really worked for us. Yes the meals were a bit expensive but for the ease at the end of a drive it was OK.

I was going to rate it 4 out of five on the basis that the hotel does what you would expect of a Novotel, but the staff were excellent and as such 5 out of 5 is deserved.

We stayed one night at the Suite Novotel. The hotel is about 4-5 km from the airport and is serviced by a free shuttle. We couldn't be bothered waiting for the bus and took a cab to the hotel, but on the return we used the shuttle service. The bus was on time, but you have to keep your eyes open for your stop, since there is no announcement of the stops and you could end up getting off quite some distance from the terminal you need. The hotel itself was quite nice. Our room was very spacious and well equipped. Most importantly it was completely sound proof, which combined with a comfortable bed made for a great night sleep. In addition to the room rate, there is a 'city tax' you will be asked to pay (many European hotels now include this charge). Breakfast was included - nothing exceptional, but not bad either. Lunch/dinner is not available at the hotel - you can buy some packaged meals (there is a microwave in the room) or utilise the restaurants of nearby hotels or dine out in the village. Cross the parking in front of the hotel and you are in the village. There are several restaurants you can try, but be mindful that most of them do not serve food after 10pm. Supermarket closes early too. We had a below average dining experience at the Le Vitrine - a blob of dough with a two inch thick mess on top, served under the name of pizza. Eat there only if you must. So, overall, the hotel was a good choice for the sleep quality and room comfort and more than adequate for a night's stay, even though the food options are limited.

The hotel was OK for a low-budget airport hotel, kind of low-end IKEA but clean and comfortable. However, I was very upset that we were given no accommodation for what was an understandable mistake. We had mistakenly booked our room for the following night, and while the hotel was able to give us a room, they were not willing to refund our prepayment for the room we had booked previously. Nor were they even willing to offer us the new room for the prepaid rate. I can understand the policy in the event of a cancellation, but this was not a cancellation--only an error. There should have been some willingness on the hotel's part to waive their policy in this case.

Stayed one night after a long drive from the coast in prep for a flight the next day. Found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable. the staff were very courteous. There was only one coffee in the room and there were tow of us, so two coffees would have been better than having to get dressed and go down to the lobby to buy a coffee. The staff were very helpful in helping us select a place to get a quick dinner in the village. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Important tip: there are several Novotels nearby, so research the location of the one you are going...

The shuttle service is a bit confusing so it is better have the hotel address as just saying Novotel is not enough( 2 others in the area) you need to check at the Terminal before boarding. The hotel has nice spacious rooms with a single couch. It is close to the town center, what is convenient for dining. The room is quiet with a comfy bed, big working desk, a big bathroom with a showerbox and bathtub with amenities. The toilet is apart from the bathroom, what is a nice feature if you are not in a single use. It has some coffee/tea with a kettle in the room. Cleanliness was a problem at least in the room I got, many hair traces in the bathroom and the wooden partitions that functions as a bathroom door and the closet doors were not at the best of the maintenance. The breakfast buffet , I felt a bit limited and the eating area is not big, it can be very busy in the morning lacking space although you may go to the garden where you can enjoy breakfast on some outside tables. The plates are the disposable type, what eases cleaning but gives a fast food breakfast impression.

My wife and I are very unseasoned travelers (first trip abroad) and speak no French, so hopefully this review will assist similar couples flying into CDG airport and staying over at the Suite Novotel, and feeling a bit apprehensive as to how to negotiate everything.
Landing at CDG was quite an experience, and finding our way to collect our luggage was an excursion on its own. However, there were plenty of assistants on hand to assist and point us in the right direction. So, top marks to the various information officials who were very friendly and understanding, and spoke English quite easily (in fact, throughout our tour of France we have found the locals to be always friendly and accommodating, and certainly not unfriendly towards the English as we had been warned about prior to our trip).
Having retrieved our luggage, we followed the signs to the "airport shuttles". The trick is to find Paul's Confectionery/Bakery, and behind that take one floor up to the road outside. It's a constant stream of shuttle buses, and whilst ours didn't have the "Gold Bus" sign on it, it did have the Suite Novotel emblem on the side. Our driver spoke no French, but just mention "Suite Novotel?" and he'll confirm either way. All the shuttles had the emblems of the hotels they visit on the side, so you can't go wrong. The trip itself was about 15 minutes, and the bus does a loop back - you go past the Suite Novotel, but he stops there on the way back to the airport. So don't stress when you go past it on the other side of the road - he does stop there on his return leg.
We arrived at the hotel at about 07h30, whereas the official check-in only starts at 12h00. There were no non-smoking rooms available yet, but the two receptionists were quite happy to take our luggage to a back room and lock it away for us, whilst we then took an exploratory walk around Roissy. To get to the town, one needs to cross the park area (otherwise all you see are hotels!), and it was a perfect way to pass the time, and work off some stiff legs.
Take time to enjoy the colourful gardens, and appreciate the pictures on the side of the road showing Roissy in the old days.
We returned to the hotel at about 11h00, but only at about 12h30 was a room available for us. So slight grumble about that delay.
The room itself was very pleasant, and clean. The airport is far enough away so that you aren't disturbed at all by aircraft noise. The bed was very comfortable (normally I take at least one night before I can get used to a strange bed, but we both found this one to be immediately perfect).
Some arrangements which I found rather strange, though, were that paper cups (and not porcelain mugs) were provided in the room, and only a couple of sachets of tea/coffee. Also, no milk was available (although the receptionist was quite happy to provide me with a couple of little milk sachets when I asked). Maybe it's a typical French arrangement, but porcelain mugs, more coffee sachets and milk available would have been nice.
The bathroom ticked all the necessary blocks. Nice size bath and (separate) shower, and plenty of hot water.
The toilet is separate from the bathroom in a little cubicle type room.

We opted to get pizzas from Roissy for dinner, and which we enjoyed in the park. The locals were getting ready to watch the French soccer team on a big outdoor screen at the local mairie (city hall), so it was a festive and enjoyable vibe in the park.
Just a quick comment on the service at reception. A few other reviewers have commented negatively on the personnel there, but we found the various staff on duty to be very friendly and efficient. Omah (I probably have spelt his name wrong) in particular was a great help, and remained courteous and friendly throughout. Thanks my friend, you probably won't remember us, but these two South Africans appreciated your help!
Breakfast the next morning at the hotel was simple, but very adequate. Fruit juices, cereals, yoghurts, pastry, bread, coffee, sandwiches, eggs (to soft boil) - more than sufficient for us.
All in all, we were very pleased with our stay, and would definitely use this Hotel again should we be staying overnight in Paris.
