Regrettably there was a private party in the restaurant causing noise in the rooms on the second floor untill 3 AM. The hotel did not seem to have received the booking from easy to book so charged us again and did not sort out the issue of miscommunication between website and hotel system. Room was not clean. Good points is that the hotel is well located and has the potential of becoming a wonderfull hotel if managed differently and renocated significantly.

Dear Sir, we are sorry if you are desapointed about your recent stay in our hotel. In fact, your online booking on a partner website never arrived in our system. So we had to request for payment again because we never received the payment you made online to our partner. We had to wait on Monday to call them to have the explanation. We organized your check-in as quick as possible in order not to keep you waiting to find a solution. Regarding your comment about noise, we usually propose the more quiet rooms park side to clients because the noisy rooms are already booked by the group if they play music late at night. We are sorry if you find your room not clean, you should tell us so we had the possibility to change your room when you arrived. We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you again in other circumstances and again apology even if we are not responsable about the reservation problems.

This hotel is famous, from the birth of Louis XIV, the invention of Bearnaise sauce, Alexandre Dumas writing the 3 Musketeers many famous and influential people have slept within its walls, and with good reason. It has commanding views across Paris, (its a 20 minute RER journey from the city centre) that are truly breathtaking. The hotel was clean and well furnished, it looked like it has just undergone reservation so it was in top draw condition. The staff where friendly and accomodating, very keen to help. Cost wise it was fantastic as we used a LivingSocial deal. It's not like some 4 star hotels that just tick boxes to get those stars, this feels like the real deal. If you want a beautiful retreat from Paris this really fits the bill.

Room Tip: Views facing Paris are amazing.

Oh my goodness, what a fantastic hotel. The rooms are majestic and regal, the bathroom is not shy of a 5 star hotel. The service is exceptional and location is breath taking. Unfortunately we did not eat in the restaurant as it was a wedding but the reception has recommended a fantastic sea food just minute away.
The history of the hotel is as fascinating as the look. Firstly the Bearnaise sauce has been invented there but most amazing was that King Luis xiii was born in of the rooms.
My son who is 8 years old said that he now wants to leave there!!! if only!!!

Room Tip: Email the hotel beforehand as they are extremely accommodating if they have availability

The view on Paris is spectacular. The location (just next to the chateau) is equally superb. But the hotel is poorly run and from a services and facilities point of view a bit of a disgrace. Let me start by saying that the hotel is not cheap. Our group paid a minimum of E 199 and some paid 299 per night exlcuding breakfast. The personal however is very friendly and helpful, so it's not their fault that the overall experience was well short of the price I paid.

Wifi doesn't work in the room . They are well aware, and have perfected the art of doing nothing about it without getting you too annoyed.
Breakfast is extremely basic and not very good, but they do charge E 19,-. E.g. no a la carte at all, scrambled eggs are industrial, coffee is horendous and in general, a very basic (type 2 star hotel ) event.
Water in the shower is alternating hot and cold. Very annoying
In general, the hotel is run down with paint peeling, very old bathrooms, noisy when somebody is next door etc. The whole hotel needs a fundamental restauration, but clearly, there are no plans to do so.
No gym or other facilities..
No breakfast in the room.
No bar
I really wonder if they qualify to be a four star hotel

Again, the view and location are superb. Service is actually quite good, with friendly staff.

What a shame....

Room Tip: make sure you have a room with a view on Paris. Possible the best view possible in and around Paris...

I stayed at this hotel whilst attending a training course from my work and after being told I was attending a training course in Paris I was a little disappointed to find out we were some way from the centre, however on arriving at the hotel I was immediately taken by the views with The Eiffel Tower in the distance and great views of the Siene and La Defance (Sorry for bad spellings) I never grew bored of looking out the window.

The hotel itself is still going through a refit, but as they were finishing the top floor I think it is almost done, but as I didn't spend much time in the room it didn't bother me. My Room was an end room with a Paris view and so large that the TV remote wouldn't work from the bed. The restaurant was top class and every meal was good (well it is France after all.)

If there is one issue that may count against this hotel it is the location, if you are coming to visit Paris and want a base to pop on and out of then this may not be the place for you, however if you are looking for somewhere to visit St Germain (a lovely town in it's own right) or you are happy to travel into Paris and spend the day there (about 30 mins by Train) then you can do a lot worse.

We have booked 2 nights in a suite.

We expected luxury and abundance in this place where Louis the XIVth was born, but that was not the case.
First the good points:
The hotel is tranquil and quiet, just next to the park, and, ether suite or not, the rooms on the Est side all have a stunning view of Paris in the distance.
The suite was clean, the bathroom spacious (shower and bathtub), and the king size bed very comfortable.
Taxi service efficient.
No comments on the restaurant and breakfast, since we did not eat there.
Now, the not so good points.
Some are just details and not necessarily recurring, however some are, in our opinion, not normal for a hotel of this standard:
(Please keep in mind this is a FOUR star hotel in ST GERMAIN -EN-LAYE, city of kings, and we booked a SUITE)
- the welcome collation was a poor fruit basket far from abundant with average non washed fruits, with a couple of macarons. The basket was not changed nor renewed the next day.
- the minibar was locked. We had to ask the key to the receptionist (!!),
- the ashtray with butts was left outside on the balcony and was not changed next morning,
- no room evening service (nobody came to unfold / prepare the bed and leave chocolates or wathever...),
- the condition of some furniture was poor (stains on the carpet and armchairs),
- the condition of the balcony and balcony wooden doors is affected by humidity (see picture) and has not been maintained in condition.
- no DVD/CD player,
- the casual attitude of service staff room surprised us,
- the maid once forgot to shut the door after cleaning.

Of course, this hotel is not a "Relais et Chateaux" establishment, but we expected better.
We think this hotel is resting on its laurels, but maybe we had too high expectations...

Room Tip: Any Est oriented room has a great view.

Yes, the hotel is old (Louis XIV was born there) and could use some updating, but it's lovely and charming. The restaurant is excellent and the terrace with fabulous views of the Seine and Paris couldn't be a nicer place to stop for a glass of Champagne after touring the Chateau. You're at the RER A station, so it's an easy trip into or out of Paris.
