I will start my review from 2 major disadvantages which can be disturbing for some guests:

1) breakfast is acceptable only if you stay one or two nights - despite the pastries and baguettes are vey tasty and always fresh, the available range of products is at the level of Ibis standards - shame on the management!!! - I saw that you read the reviews - therefore PLEASE !!!
DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE THIS POINT!!!

2) hotel is located over 40 km from the CDG airport so the taxi will cost you ca. 80 €
- as an alternative I do recommend to take one passport photo with you and buy the carte Navigo Semaine (7 days unlimited ticket for all the Parisien transportation - cost ca. 35 € ), then the hotel is only 20 minutes by RER from Arc d'Triomphe and Champs Elysees - RER station is 200 meters away from the hotel and frequency of the connections to Paris centre is excellent.

The main reasons to recommend this hotel are:

1) history and atmosphere of this place - here was born the king of France - Louis IV.
2) just next to the hotel you have direct access to the beautiful parc with kilometers of runaways for jogging and walks
3) Saint Germain en Laye is not a typical crowdy place full of tourists - walking narrow streets to the main square you will "touch" the real french style of living - recommend to go for the market on Thuesdays, Fridays and the best on Sunday morning (till 12.00)
4) Front desk reception is very kind and helpfull - they will surely arrange anything you wish ..., except airconditioning - because this could be a huge minus for summer visits ....

GENERALLY - I DO RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL
Bonne Annee 2014!!!!

Room Tip: It's better to pay more and book the room with panoramic view of Paris - otherwise nonsence to s...

We stayed at the hotel on our second trip to Paris in two months after discovering it on the first trip. The hotel is located in a historic building with one of its wings being the birth place of Louis XIV and a magnificent view of Paris. The breakfast on the hotel balcony was simply superb. The rooms are spacious with tall ceilings, but a little worn. The hotel is a short walk from the St-Germain-en-Laye town centre and RER station which is 30 minutes to the centre of Paris on line A. There is plenty of parking space for guests which is also a plus.

GPS could not find the hotel and it is not really well indicated, but once you reach it, you will get a "wow!" feeling. The building just breathes history, food is excellent and the view over Paris (especially by night) is overwhelming. Rooms are cosy, bathrooms are huge. One negative point: my room was overlooking the parking lot, which was very noisy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay looking over Paris. The Pavillon-Team treated us from entering the hotel until leaving like you would be treating your own guests. We definitely are looking forward to coming back, because also the location is convenient. 30 minutes from downtown Paris with the RER you are in the middle of a charming small town with lovely shops and restaurants. The huge park just next door invites for outdoor activities and walks.

Just spent the weekend there for a reunion with friends. Great location outside of Paris, half an hour by RER from the main stations in the city. Next to the beautiful park of the local castle, ideal for jogging. Beautiful views over the Seine valley and la Défense and an enthusiastic young staff. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

The Henri IV has been my preference for 4 years now whenever I stay in St Germain. I have seen it move along from an impressive, but faded building and hotel, through what must be heavy investments in improvements. These investments have done wonders and the hotel is still impressive, but now far from faded.
The "Paris" rooms offer views over the Seine to distant Paris from the escarpment oin which the Hotel sits. On this occasion I sayed here for a very comfortable stay. The "Park" rooms are on the opposite side of the hotel and are generally qiuite a bit smaller. This is refelected in the relative cost of the rooms.
Reception staff are very good, as are the breakfast room staff. The breakfast is served buffet style and is fairly rudimentary, but appetising and well presented.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a "Paris" room if you can afford it
