Hotel rates for this hotel are too high, we spend 1 night (luckily 1) in this hotel (old fashoned room, very tiny bathroom..);

Breakfast no value of 12 €, staff is preparing already tables for lunch at 09h45 am while guests are supposed to have breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere.
Staff at reception desk is ok and hotel location is perfect (very close to sea & wide beach.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Du Lido for nine days in September (during the last fortnight) and found this hotel to be of superb quality. Our room was in the hotel itself and overlooked the swimming pool and beach. We only had dinner twice in the hotel, but can honestly say that the food was terrific. Breakfast was taken at the poolside and was the usual 'continental style' with cheeses, meat and fruit in abundance and a large selection of breads etc. The staff were lovely, extremely efficient, well mannered and looked after our every need. I just can't believe it is only a 3 star rating as I have stayed in four and five star hotels that were not as good as the Grand Hotel Du Lido. I would heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good hotel, in a perfect location. I will be returning next year.

Room Tip: Go for a room in the actual hotel rather than in the annexe. The rooms overlooking the pool area and...

We stayed in this hotel at the beginning of July -myself, husband and baby. We booked it only a few days in advance and did not have high expectations. We were very pleasantly surprised once we were there. The room was spacious and very clean. I loved the toiletries as well.
The hotel's location is very good as it is in a quiet area but still in walking distance to all the attractions. There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel.
Staff were friendly and we felt very welcome.

I think that the hotel has only 3 stars because there is no coffee and tea in the room, and no fridge with a minibar. The fridge would be very much appreciated in the hot summer days.

Otherwise, I strongly recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I stayed for 10 days just after all French children had returned to school. Our expectations had been lowered by earlier comments on TripAdvisor. The location is superb and well away from the "kiss me quick" funfairs and cheap holiday stalls in Argeles. Our room was in the main hotel which is certainly a much better position than the "annexe" across the road. Our view, overlooking the swimming pool, was of the beach and the mountains. As good a view as we have ever had from an hotel in France.

The hotel guests were either retired or with children under school age; mainly French, but with Germans, Belgians and even a party from Russia! It certainly was appreciated that we both tried to speak our very rusty and inaccurate French, but most of the staff had adequate English.

The staff were excellent, hard working, very friendly and responsive. We learned that the same "equipe" had worked together for the past four years and their obvious contentment in their jobs really gives the hotel a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Our towels and (cheap plastic) glasses in our room were changed every day, which was perhaps un-necessary.

We agree that the breakfast was great, except that the arrangements for getting coffee (and warm tea) from a machine were slow and tedious. Perhaps the hotel has a new chef, but the food was actually very good and not overpriced. The twice weekly buffet was exceptional in terms of quality and quantity. It would be hard to criticise other than for being just too much. Each evening there was a choice of two starters and two main courses followed by an extensive and excellent cheese trolley and a wide variety of sweets or ice creams. We spoke to many other of the guests of various nationalities (it is a friendly place) and none were critical of the food, indeed rather the opposite.

If you want a beach holiday on the Mediterranean then this hotel has the same sea and the same sand and the same sun as the expensive offerings in Nice, Cannes or Monte Carlo, but at an affordable price. It may not be as smart, but it is much better value.

Room Tip: The best rooms are in the main hotel, overlooking the pool and the higher up the better!!

Hotel Le Lido is superbly located, right by the beach which is immense. We had a junior suite (for three of us) with fabulous sea, beach and mountain views. The suite itself was perfect for us, beds comfortable and had everything we needed (including a fridge). It's not 4 or 5 star quality and there's various water pipe noises, but it's pretty much what you'd expect from a French 3 star, and suited us just fine. The swimming pool is sort of figure of 8 size, not suitable is you want to do lengths but fine for a dip and a play, with plenty of sunloungers and parasols. But the beach and sea is much better...

Breakfasts were great, lots of choice, buffet style, so no excuses for going hungry.

Dinner on the other hand was very poor - sounds great on the menu but execution was extremely weak - needs a decent chef in our opinion and somewhat amazing that the management don't realise. We were even served bloody pork one evening (and I'm not swearing :-)). Just to put this into context, we love good French food, but unfortunately this was not anywhere near that category. Unfortunately and somewhat amazing for a hotel in France, the wine list was very limited and what there was was not any good. Service was fine though.

We'd happily stay there again, just not choose demi-pension. In fact the best decision we made was to eat out on our last night.

What this hotel's rooms lack decor is more than compensated by the wonderful beach side location. There is no road between the hotel and the beach so it's ideal for families and those who wish to escape traffic noise. Breakfast is taken outside on the pool terrace, which is sheltered if the weather happens to not be in your favour. The customers tend to be older rather than a young crowd. This has the major benefit of ensuring that service is good and the offering of food at breakfast is broad and of good quality. We werer not so impressed by the evening meals available as you feel you are being 'processed' through in 1.5 hours flat along with the rest of the crowd! But there are lots of options for a good value evening meal overlooking the beach nearer to the nightlife . We come back to this hotel for a few nights each year to relax and find it always delivers exactly what we need: a quiet environment with good service in attractive surroundings. Give it a try - in our opinion it's the best that Argeles has to offer!

Room Tip: Have a beach view room
