“Our favourite hotel in France”
Reviewed 27 November 2010

I have read the reviews about this hotel and have always found Monsieur Lormond and his staff pleasant and very helpful - even when I want my steak burned to a cinder! They have been unfailingly polite and I have never met beligerence from any member of staff. Neither have I ever witnessed any preference being shown to French guests. the breakfast is superb and the large buffet lunches which are served twice a week may be a little expensive but they are well worth what you pay for them. Our rooms (and we have had various ones) have always been clean and well maintained The little road trains stop right outside the hotel, which mean that it is possible to get around the resort and the nearby village without the problems of car parking. sadly my husband died recently and we will no longer be able to go there for our `special days` each year but I am sure that there will be a warm welcome if I go alone.

The hotel was great. It's located right on the beach. A 20 minute walk down the promenade will take you past the town center and to the Port, where many restaurants are located. Along the way, only 5 minutes from the hotel, are many nighttime attractions like a small amusement park for kids and restaurants/shops in the town.
The hotel was quiet and elegant. The staff were friendly, particularly one older gentleman who was on the night shift. He spoke English and took great care of us getting us a drink in the evening and answering questions about the area. The hotel restaurant is poolside and was lovely. Breakfast was limited, but perfectly adequate. Lunch was delicious and reasonably priced.
Rooms were small and nothing special, but they were adequate. Nothing to rave or complain about. Free wifi was a plus.
Overall, this hotel offered a really pleasant experience.

We took a suite overlooking the ocean and it was just great!!! Big room with lounge area, lots of windows. Everything was great from the moment we arrived until we left. The staff was incredible and made sure everything was great for us... We tried the restaurant for supper and we we're pleased as well, food was delicious. It looked like a big family working together... Plus, with the sea right at your feet it's just greatttttt!!!! Will go back again for sure!!

Rooms somewhat tiny in fact the smallest ever experienced - ever !
service is dedicated to the french & if you are not, then you will feel 2nd class !
I love france - but this hotel out of all of the hotels/chateaux ive stayed this hotel
felt the least special/attentive to our needs/requirements. shame because brochure
shows good location etc

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of July to escapt the dreadful weather in the mountains, the main draw being the beach side location. A great spot with no road running in front of the hotel. A big bonus was that the hotel is situated away from the main strip so is very quiet with a very nice garden area and pool. I wouldn't have wanted to stay at the bucket and spade end of the resort as it's very busy and noisy throughout the day. The room was acceptably decorated and clean with a lovely sea view - worth the extra in my opinion. The breakfast was excellent with a great selection of fruit salad, ham, eggs, pastries, tarts, breads and yoghurts which you eat pool side which is lovely in the morning sunshine. The hotel does host a busy lunch restaurant which may be a little intrusive if you were to be relaxing by the pool but I tended to be either on the wide sandy beach or taking lunch elsewhere at that time. The little restaurant opposite the hotel is well worth a lunch - inexpensive with polite service in a nice setting under the pine trees. I ventured to 'The Strip' in the evenings for meals where there is a wide selection of restaurants willing to take your money. The food which I had there was very nice, if a little expensive but what can you expect at peak season on the sea front? All in all, I got exactly what I wanted from the hotel and resort: a good hotel with a nice breakfast in a relaxing atmosphere, within walking distance of bars, shops and plentyful restaurants in the evening.

  • Liked — Close proximity to the beach
  • Disliked — Fairly expensive

We spent two months travelling through Europe on a modest budget, and this was by far the worst hotel we stayed at during our entire trip. Our room was dark, damp, dirty and moldy. The bath fixture was broken (hot water pressure was inadequate), and the air conditioner didn't work. The lock on the patio door was broken. I can't imagine the situation being any worse than it was!

The woman managing reception was one of the most belligerent hotel staff we have ever encountered. When we tried to inform her of the issues with our room, we were told that there were no other rooms available and threatened with retention of a 100 Euro deposit if we decided not to stay there for the 4 nights we originally reserved. We decided to cut our losses, forfeit the deposit anyway, and move on.

Given how unpleasant the attitude of the staff we would not consider staying here even if it didn't cost anything. The hassle and discomfort are not worth it at any price.

  • Liked — Proximity to wine tasting in Collioure, Banyuls
  • Disliked — Staff is the most hostile I've ever encountered

We stayed for 10 days during August and found all aspects of the hotel to be excellent. Our room was in the annex at the rear with the balcony overlooking a small garden. The room was pleasantly decorated with all that was needed for our stay. The bathroom was adequate with a handheld shower over the bath. We knew this to be the case on booking the room so were not too disappointed that a proper shower was not present.
The situation of the hotel was excellent being right on the beach and the road was never so busy as to cause a problem.
Breakfast by the pool was a highlight of the day, with a wide choice. Evening meals were excellent and service was always efficient. We enjoyed 2 buffets 1 at lunchtime and the other in the evening, a celebration for bank holiday, a band played at both and the atmosphere was terrific. The management team was very accommodating and created a very friendly family atmosphere. In all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
