“Excellent meal”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 via mobile

Based on TA reviews and the Michelin Guide we booked for dinner on a Saturday. We were well received and shown into a small lounge as we were a little early. We had a table in the front of the restaurant which was tastefully decorated. The squid in glass on the tables looked great! Next was the choice of dinner - we went for the €50 menu leaving the choice to the chef. We said what we didn't like (chèvre) and then sat back to await our surprises! Amuse bouches were a great start; then sushi grade fish as a darter; followed by red mullet with a carrot and orange purée in a circle with saffron sauce in the middle; then perfectly cooked duck; then green pea ice-cream with strawberry ketchup (quirky but delicious - try it!); petit fours to finish. We had a couple of glasses of wine with the food and asked the waiter to choose for us. Good choices! Waiter was friendly and keen to try his English which helped. Terrific evening only let down by a 30 minute wait for the bill having asked 3 times. I would ask for the bill at the same time as you order your coffees! As another reviewer has said - Michelin star food for €50, what is not to like? Highly recommended.

“Great Lunch”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

We have been a few times in the evening, but this was the first time for lunch. The 3 course lunch, including a glass of wine and coffee, for €32 is really excellent and compared with other restaurants in the same price range (for lunch) it really is good value. The beetroot and cherry soup was fantastic as was the white chocolate and basil sorbet.

“Perfect for a special lunch”
Reviewed 3 January 2014 via mobile

We have wandered past Octopus on a number of occasions and it was on our list to visit. When we were thinking of somewhere for lunch on a special occasion, we were pleased that we could get a table.

The menu has a two or three course option with a glass of wine and coffee included. Each course has two options. We chose to have a bottle of wine from the excellent selection of local wine. The food was well presented, plentiful and delicious.

The restaurant is comfortable with well spaced tables and several dining rooms accommodating around 20 people. A large group can cause the noise level to rise, as it did when we were there, but it wasn't too bad.

We would certainly return.

“a plaece to make a special occasion special”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

I can only endorse the many other rave reviews of this restaurant. The food is wonderful, and very good value for money given the quality. And although it isn't mentioned anywhere that I noticed on the menu, if you don't know much about the local wine, they will gladly serve wine by the glass to match each course. As we were having the six course menu, this naturally pushed up the final bill, but it was still well worth it. On top of that, the service is excellent - professional without being condescending, friendly without being familiar.

“Glad it was open”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

A long weekend in France is often difficult unless you go in season (about three days in August) as everywhere is closed. Beziers in October is basically closed, closed, closed. So, we were delighted to find a Michelin star restaurant Ouvert! Restaurant Octopus took these strangers in off the street and gave us a real treat of a meal. We chose the "let the chef choose for you" option and it didn't disappoint. Service was excellent, but the dishes were a bit slow in coming. Two and a half hours for lunch was a tad too long, but we avoided a bloated feeling on stepping out onto the pavement. 111.00 Euros for two was really very reasonable.
