“just a 2 night stay.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2013

I have been to canet plage many a times and stayed in quite a few hotels there. we found this hotel last year and stayed there twice. We heard that they were going to refurbish the hotel and we were abit gutted as we really liked the way it was before. On our arrival this year we was pleasantly surprised with the works carried out. it is in my opinion one of the nicest hotels in canet. Most of the staff are friendly and I will just say most, and not all. we will be revisiting next year and hopefully there's a few more smiles and bonjours.

Dear Mr. Bennett,
All the staff thanks you very much for your feedback regarding your stay.
As a regular guest, your opinion on the works we carried out was very important for us, and we were very touched to read that you enjoyed the refurbishment and your stay at Host&Vinum.
However, we were very sorry to read that our staff hasn’t been as friendly as you were expecting. We shall do our best in order to make your next stay up to your requirements.
We really look forward welcoming you again next year.

Very elegant place. Simple, but good quality breakfast. Typical Catalan colour scheme. Peaceful garden with pool. Perfect for a romantic holiday. Short walk to the beach in Canet. Would love to visit Le Mas de la Plage et des Pins again!

Room Tip: There is no lift, so a room in a lower floor can be a good option.

For the annual trip of our group of 10 friends, we selected this hotel, based on the good previous experience from one couple in our group. We stayed for a week. Coming back every late afternoon, a dip in the piscine before a drink on the terrace was a great way to relax and to prepare for the dinner. Most of the time, our big table was set on the terrace and we were scanning the menu with pleasure: the choice was varied and the food always excellent. And seeing the owner and chef coming at the end of the dinner to inquire about our satisfaction was a personal moment we all appreciated. The young lady serving the breakfast on the terrace was always friendly, as all the staff. And if we needed some advice for planning the activity of the day,we could always count on the owner for the best hints. A successful stay, especially for a week, is made of all these elements. You dont really find them in more luxurious and anonymous hotels of a big chain. We all can strongly recommend this hotel as a perfect base to explore the rich area.

Our first impression of Canet-en-Roussillon and the hotel was "Oh boy, another crappy three-star French hotel, especially when we saw there was no elevator, shabby carpets and a less than luxurious bedroom.
However, the warm welcome from the staff who were always interested in what we were doing and having a chat with us made us really feel comfortable and at home in the hotel. We loved the gardens and small pool area and the breakfast outside on the terrace under the pine trees. The long sandy beach at Canet is just a five-minute walk and the hotel has free parking. The hotel is also very dog friendly and it was so handy to let our dog run around in the garden and be able to bring him to breakfast etc.
We also slept very well - the rooms may be small but they grow on you.
Overall, really enjoyed talking to the staff who all speak good English and the location is a great base if you want to explore local towns like Collioure and drive down to the Spanish border. Canet en Rousillon itself is nothing mindblowing.

Room Tip: Choose one overlooking the gardens and pool!

The new owner is slowly redecorating and upgrading the hotel and grounds. Renovation is uneven. New bathroom sinks, new TV but generally room small and bed uncomfortable. Grounds not well manicured. There is also currently no elevator and no internet in the room (in the sitting room yes).

We enjoyed the lobster dinner (menu that evening mostly only 'homard', no meat or chicken on menu that day) but found it too expensive.

Overall, we found both the room rate and the restaurant over-priced, not as good value for money as other places where we stayed on this trip.

Stayed for a week at this hotel, which seems to have several names, on the Relais du Silence site its called 'Hôtel le Mas de la Plage et des Pins'. Henri, the owner, is very friendly and the staff are all lovely. We had a room with a terrace which was very good, lots of space, probably one of the most comfortable beds we've ever had in a hotel, although the finishing standard of the decor could have been better and there was an electrical light fitting coming away from the wall which looked dodgy. The bathroom was a fair size but desperately needed an extractor fan, but the shower was good with good pressure. Towels could have been better, slightly on the small size. Air conditioning was very efficient although noisy when coming on and off. Breakfast was disappointing, consisted of coffee/tea/chocolate/orange juice plus a plate of bread and pastries and a natural yoghurt. I love my croissants in France so was very disappointed, and we both like fresh fruit for breakfast if at all possible. After the 5th day I was sending my partner out for croissants from the local pattisserie. Small but adequate pool, plenty of sun beds as most people don't seem to stay around the hotel during the day. Good location, only 5 mins from the beach and various restaurants and cafes. We only ate at the hotel the first night which unfortunately was not a good night to pick because it was quite windy and most of us started off outside but had to move indoors which meant the waiting staff were very busy and we were sat at our table for an hour with no drink or bread, needless to say we didn't eat there again. Overall a very pleasant stay and much nicer than staying in a large anonymous hotel.
