I booked a family room for myself, my husband and 2 children aged 11 and 13. After a 10 hour drive through France we arrived at about 9pm. We were not asked how we were or what our journey had been like, we were just asked for our details and the paperwork from Expedia. I was was not expected plush luxury but had hoped for more than we got. The passageways were dark and dingy, not helped by the dark green paintwork on the doors - almost all were chipped and needing a re-paint.The room was tiny - initially I thought they had given us the wrong room as there was only one bed but then I realised that there were 2 metal bunks attached to the wall. When these were pulled down it was difficult for more than one person to move around the room ( we are not big, 2 of us are under 5ft!!) My son had to balance on a chipboard desk to get in and out of bed as the ladder had been boarded up (I guess it took up too much room!) The bathroom was also tiny - a half size bath - very old and covered in scale, grouting missing etc and dark blue to add to the gloom. there was a shower attachment on the wall but no shower curtain so you had to contantly mop up water with a towel from the floor sink and loo! When went downstairs the lady on reception had a look of resignation on her face. i explained that i was unhappy at the room and was disappointed with it. She didn't even ask me what the problems were she just asked me if I was leavinG!! I said "No" - - after a 10 hour drive it was meant to be the start of our family holiday a relaxing 2 days at the seaside - I didn't have the energy to start finding new accomodation at this time plus we had already paid Expedia up front. it was a case of put up with it but advise against it for others in a similar position. To be fair i did peek in some of the other rooms - they had balconies and some had new bathrooms and showers fitted so perhaps they were in the process of doing the place up, but I don't think I would like to risk getting the grotty rooms at the back where you can't swing a cat and the air con is 6 inches above your childs head! Don't go.
