Le Prieure Hotel Restaurant
Certificate of Excellence

We stayed at the gorgeous Hotel and enjoyed a superb meal one night with friends at this lovely restaurant. The food quality and presentation, and the service of the meals was nothing short of superb! Don't miss an opportunity to experience Le Prieure Restaurant at Villeneuve-Les-Avignon.

The Hotel was wonderful! Such a great setting. There is a pool and lovely gardens. The rooms are large and comfy beds, clean and large bathrooms. Peaceful! Superb! Can't wait to return and spend more time here.

My husband and I recently stayed for 4 nights at Le Prieure in Villeneuve-les-Avignon (which is conveniently located just across the river from Avignon, in the interesting and historic little village of Villeneuve-les-Avignon). Le Prieure is part of the Relais & Chateaux group, and the quality of the hotel was as good as expected.

We were staying in the La Nue (Le Nu?) room, which was in the original part of the historic priory building. The room was large, with fantastic decor. The bed was large and fantastically comfortable. The bathroom was truly superb - his and hers sinks, a very large bath, and a separate walk-in shower. (The shower was extremely powerful - almost too much so, as it perhaps needed to be more securely attached! On adjustment, it had a slight tendency to turn around and shower the ceiling).

We dined one evening in the hotel restaurant, which is a formal and very high quality gourmet restaurant (I think Michelin-starred). My husband greatly enjoyed the food and wine. I would have enjoyed it were it not for being heavily pregnant, and complex food being a bit beyond me at the moment. There are other less expensive and more straightforward restaurants within walking distance of the hotel (though it should be noted that they all seem to stop serving by about 9pm).

We did not have breakfast in the hotel any morning, as breakfast was extra price. This was the only niggle: my view is that at hotels of this quality, breakfast should be included in the price. However, there were lots of patisseries nearby at which to eat breakfast, and given my morning sickness, this was a better option for us anyway.

The hotel has truly beautiful grounds with drinks service outside and a very nice outdoor swimming pool. However, as the weather was unseasonably bad when we were there, we did not get to enjoy the grounds as much as we would have otherwise.

Great hotel where I would very much like to return with better weather!

Room Tip: We were in the original part of the priory. Amazing rooms, though stairs rather steep on way there...

We stayed here for two nights in a deluxe room. The room was spacious and had a giant bathroom with large shower, bath and dual sinks.

The staff here were excellent and helpful at every point. We were assisted with our bags up the stairs on arrival and departure. During the first evening I was unwell and they were happy to change our dinner reservation and send some fruit to the room as I didn't feel like anything of substance.

I was feeling better on the second afternoon and we had a good time wandering around the centre of Villeneuve-les-Avignon, which had a number of cafes and small stores. The grounds around the hotel were pretty and well looked after.

We did visit the restaurant on the second night when I felt better and I was very happy with the quality.

Overall this was a lovely stay and I'd be happy to return.

Beautiful gardens and pool - the room with an old stone balcony overlooking the courtyard was perfect for after dinner night caps with the moon peering through the leaves of the old tree branches above us - very romantic. Quiet surroundings for a good nights sleep. Staff were friendly and unobtrusive.
We didnt try the restaurant as we prefer less formal eating.
Pricey but good value for money for somewhere special.
Difficulty in driving directly into the car park if you obey the one way signs - but most people dont and make a dash for ti when the coast is clear.

Room Tip: go for one of the 'older'rooms attached to the main building as they have more character tha...

Amazing hotel with outstanding service. Beautiful area of France with Avignon and wineries galore- only issue is you'll never want to leave the hotel! Grounds, service, food, simply magnificent. The staff is very friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. The best service I've ever experienced in France hands down.

In June 2012 we went to a number of similar places in Provence and this one was by far the best. Faultess and all was amazing, service, food, cleanliness, rooms (got upgraded with toddler for free twice). The garden was magic, recommended to book a table overlooking the garden for the evening. Swimming pool super. Breakfast worth it. We dream about going back.

We walked along the river and over the bridge to Anignon - 20 minutes. Perfect way to see Anignon without having to put up with crowds. Some nice small restaurants in Villeneuve. Had good time talking with the owners. Room was great. Spacious for France. Very clean and proper. Had a suite with a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Lovely place to sit out and read and share a glass of wine. Stay was the highlight of our two weeks in France. Travelled on off season, so value of the room was very good.
