What a great place. The bar area is to welcoming and comfortable. It was a pleasure to be served by such pleasant staff. Very clean and nicely decorated. The food menu is great. Plenty choice even for the fussy eaters amongst us. Would definitely make a return trip

Stayed here for one night whilst attending a wedding at Whitewell. The pub is in a central location in Whalley with plenty of parking. The pub is nicely decorated inside with a good selection of beers (including tim taylors landlord). The room we got was very spacious with a very nice bathroom. For some reason the room and corridor appeared to be overheated and perhaps the owners should moderate this to avoid the wasted cost. However, eventually we managed to turn the radiator in the room down. Overall we were happy with our stay.

Room Tip: Cannot remember faced the main road

We stayed at the Swan over night and found the level of service from check in to check out very good and friendly. The room we stayed in looked like it had recently been refurbished, was spacious and clean with a big comfy bed. One of the staff recommended a visit to whalley abbey as we had never been to the village before. We had an evening meal and a bottle of wine, I would recommend the cheese pie to anyone, candles we a nice touch. Only negative comment would have to be that our room was on the front of the building so there was a little noise from passing cars. Would stay again but maybe request a room at the back.

Being local we visit the swan for food and drinks regularly, the food is always excellent and the staff are really friendly and accommodating, you won't be disappointed. It's by far the best pub in the village and you can always be assured of a friendly welcome.

had a ,superb pub meal, you could not fault it, service was excellent, just such a shame the music ( if one could call it that ) was so loud it spoiled what could have been a good experience.
surely it could be toned down during dining hours.

Thank you for your review - it is good to know that our small team can meet customer expectations as all our food is freshly prepared on premises to order.
I was sorry to learn that we let you down with our choice and volume of background music and we have asked our staff to consider this in future.

We stayed at the Swan on the way to a family wedding and found the place very pleasant. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was good, with a wonderful 'Lancashire' breakfast that really hit the spot.
The bar has some good beers, which were well served by the enthusiastic bar staff.
The rooms were clean, bright, spacious and well appointed. The downside however is the noise. In fairness, it was a Saturday and we expected noise from the bar below, which is open until midnight,, however I was continually awoken afterwards by street noise, I found out later that there is a 'nightclub' a few doors away. Traffic noise is also a problem as the rooms at the front are only a yard away from the road. If I stayed again, I would ask for a room at the rear and hope it was quieter.
A pleasant hotel, well run and with nice staff. Shame about the noise.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear.

We arrived for meal and were told after ordering there was 35 minute wait. We said this was ok but explained that we had a concert to attend. The meal did not arrive despite being told it would "in 5 mins". After an hours wait we told the manager we needed to leave and that we would not now have chance to eat and would he consider what he could do for us. He blamed the kitchen staff, was unapologetic, arrogant and rude. We got our refund and left... Never to return!
