“Leisurely lunch, super service”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Met for lunch with a former work colleague and was very impressed with our first visit to Breda Murphy's. The small car park was full, meaning one of us had to park across the road, which was a shame, but once inside we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and were very well looked after by Lorna. The food itself (my wife and I both opted for the fish pie) was simply gorgeous, and it was nice to be able to chat in nice quiet surroundings - although most of the tables were occupied, you were unaware of anyone else's conversation: ideal.
The atmosphere was friendly and pleasant and I must pay particular tribute to Lorna and the other staff who served us: without being in any way obtrusive, they were all very attentive to us. It was easy to catch their eye when we wanted something (how rare it is to be able to say that these days), our meals and coffees arrived without any undue wait and all interactions with us were extremely polite.
Our only regret is that we now live away from Lancashire and, for all the years that Breda Murphy's has been "on our doorstep", this was our first visit.
In summary, well worth a visit, do make sure you book in advance, then sit back and enjoy fabulous cuisine in a relaxed, but professional dining room that made for a perfect, leisurely lunch.

“Cuisine Out of this World”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We discovered Breda Murphy many years ago when Breda herself was just a young girl. We were amazed at the standard of cooking - frankly the best we had ever had the pleasure to enjoy in the NW. W e always look forward to our visits and find the menu continuously changing but retaining that high note of top cuisine which sparkles the palate.
Last week we shaed the sea bass salad after 2 starters, a delectable cheese crotin, and locally preserved smoked salmon with coconut rissoles - what a combination. The a speciality passion fruit meringue roulade - all soft and yummy and a panacotta with raspberries.

Rush along there. You will never find a nicer restaurant !

“A little gem”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Space on the car park this afternoon gave us the opportunity to call in for a late lunch. The wheelchair was no problem and we were made very welcome. What to choose, that's the problem. Service was delightful & friendly. Presentation excellent and food delicious. Had to stop at the shop on the way out and were tempted by the variety of cakes to bring home.
Can't praise the staff enough- they really complete the experience.
Looking forward already to our next visit.

“Forget the Reputation - Experience the Excellence”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

As we all know, many restaurants (and other eateries) begin full of promise, only to wain with the passage of time and the demands of success. Not so "Food by Breda Murphy". In the past week, I have had the great pleasure of being a guest at three major gatherings at the restaurant. On each occasion, Breda, Gareth and all the staff excelled themselves. The food continues to provide an excellent choice of locally sourced, best quality produce; cooked to perfection. I was very interested to discover the addition of some new and very exciting wines to the menu, which so obviously and successfully complement the food that one can only conclude there has been some enthusiastic research on the part of Breda and the staff.
As for service, the staff are attentive; without being cloying. If it is hospitality you want, with some of the best food in the North-West, this is the place. Breda and her team provide excellent service and value for money. Whilst others may come and go, it is reassuring to know that there are those still committed to excellence. Speaking personally, myself and my family have had many celebrations at this gem of a restaurant. I hope we will yet have many more.
