“Used to be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

We go here often and unfortunately have been disappointed on the last couple of occasions. The food has become more expensive and the portion size smaller. Having said that the Eggs Norwegian are still lovely to eat, and my husband reports the full English is perfectly acceptable.

Drinks are over priced and the filter coffee is frankly awful. Also the cakes just aren't as good as they once were. They're nice but when you know they've been better, it's hard to be enthusiastic.

A lovely atmosphere and the staff are fantastic. All in all a nice place to go but there are a lot of alternatives for that kind of money in the area.

I am from the ribble valley and decided to go here for lunch here with a friend I wasnt to hungry so decided to opt for a sandwich and my friend had the same it came as one pice of bread on a plate with the filling on top and a bit of plain salad on top resembled nothing like a sandwich but someones idea of trying it to make it look like something it quite clearly wasnt it was way to expensive for what
Was offered and trumped up food so they can charge alot more for it next time I will stick to cjs sandwich shop round the corner at least u will be full and satisfied. I wouldnt recommend benedicts atall

“Overpriced and disappointing cake”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

We were visiting Clitheroe and the surrounding areas for the day, and had intentionally had a small lunch so we could stop at Benedicts for coffee and a cake on the way home after seeing it advertised in a magazine. We were initially surprised by the £4.50 price tag for a slice of cake but were hopeful as they looked delicious. When they arrived, we were severely disappointed. My rhubarb and custard tart just tasted like a wedge of clotted cream, and my mum's lemon drizzle cake had some form of processed lemon flavoured icing in the middle of plain sponge, it was more like a tray cake you buy from a supermarket. Very disappointing on flavour and hugely over priced for the quality of the cake.

“Really good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014 via mobile

Been here a few times over the last month for breakfast and a lunch.

The full english was amazing and very impressive to see various items procured locally from different suppliers.

The lunch was good too, although the cylindrical chips could have been a bit more crispy for my liking, but a lovely touch none the less.

The range of teas and cakes is brilliant! And the egg custard is unreal!

A perfect stop off point when in this beautiful village.
