Cozy hotel with wonderfully friendly staff. Absolutely everyone who works there is outgoing and warm. We had a large room, 302, double bed and door/window terraces on two walls, over looking the main square in the village. Great hiking. Delightful experience.

Room Tip: Room 302 was bright and over looked the main square in the village.

Stayed for 5 nights in Feb half term. Very friendly hotel. Had a family room. 2 bunks in entrance to room, large double bedroom, bathroom and separate wc. Overlooked small square and next to tourist office. Gondola to slopes 5 mins walk. Staff spoke a little English but were always very helpful. Some others have commented about noise. It is town centre hotel but we were not disturbed and liked being in the centre of things. Downstairs bar good, breakfast good in fact everything about the hotel good and we hope to go back. As a ski resort fairly small ski area. Ideal for short stay. Other resorts such as Bareges la Mongie and lux Ardiden 40 mins drive.

Had a pleasant stay in this family run hotel. Our room was rather basic, but really big, clean with a fantastic mountain view. It is located in the centre of town, so it can be a real struggle to find parking. The cafe downstairs is open from early morning till late, serving snacks, sweets and drinks. A reasonably priced hotel.

Our Gourmet Cycling Travel guests stayed here during the Tour de France 2010 Final week tour and absolutely loved it! We were all enchanted with the warm welcome and extremely friendly service of the owners and their team.

The hotel is done in a very cozy, mountain style and is quite comfortable. Don't expect the Ritz here but if you are looking for nice rooms, an authentic atmosphere, friendly service and a region bursting with activities, this is the place for you. Cauterets was a great launching pad for our cyclists, from climbing to the Pont d'Espagne and the beautiful scenery (overlooking the Spanish border), or hitting some of the TdF famous climbs like the Cols du Soulor, Aubisque and Tourmalet. Hiking is abundant here too, all you have to do is follow the tumbling river up towards its source.

There is no true restaurant in the hotel but they make "hikers plates" if desired. Local cheese platters, cured meats from the region and a couple of hearty mountain specialities are available. There are plenty of nice little restaurants around town too. Breakfast was excellent, just be sure to ask for some eggs and breakfast meats.

Don't forget to try the thermal baths while in town. A true gem of a region and hotel. We'll gladly come back for a stay.

My husband and I stayed here for one night as were passing from France to Spain and wish we had stayed longer! This is predominantly a ski resort area but it is BEAUTIFUL in summer! The hotel is centrally located and easy to reach by car- only 20 minutes or so past Lourdes. Once there we parked and did everything on foot. The rooms were very cosy- spotlessly clean, and bathroom very modern with all the amenities. Our room was a double but it could have slept 4- there was a large VERY comfy bed and the two bunk beds in a separate alcove- great for families. We spent a day taking the ski lifts up to the Cirque du LYs which was so amazing- wish we had more time to hike around. Also great little restraunts. Try the Raclette, a local chese dish, so great!

  • Liked — Scenery, Comfy beds!
  • Disliked — liked it all!

Le Bois Joli is a recently renovated (in the Alpine village motif) 3 star hotel in the center of Cauteret (right next to the office of tourism). Very clean, very modern. The cafe is always well lit and welcoming. The gentleman and the woman who run the place work very hard to keep this hotel in peak condition. We stayed there as it is close to the National Park entrance for hiking in the Pyrenees. We felt very welcome (even though we don't speak French). Such a pleasant place to be that we extended our stay. This is a very wonderful place to spend some time.
