Just got back from our second stay at La Villa and still great place to spend a week. It's hard to mention something that hasn't been in the reviews on this site yet, but let me tell you our 10 personal reasons to book a stay at La Villa :-)

1. Mark & Peter : best hosts ever! Always friendly and funny, lovely guys.
2. The room : we booked a Deluxe room (beautiful view on the mountains), it has everything you need : good bed, soft sheets, enough space, large bathroom with huge bathtub, new Gilchrist & Soames amenities, Tassimo machine to make a coffee/tea/hot chocolate,...
3. La Villa : beautiful house, lots of charm. My husband had a massage and loved it, very relaxing.
4. The garden : always quiet and lots of comfy seats to do some reading, have a drink,...
5. The DVD collection : don't worry if you have a rainy day : Mark & Peter own an impressive DVD collection with loads of recent movies and series.
6. Le Bistrot des Saveurs : a great restaurant in Castres (about 20 minutes by car). Mark & Peter booked us a table and we had a lovely evening here : great food, friendly people, nice atmosphere. We will go back for sure.
7. The possibilities in the area : this time we did a boat trip on Canal du Midi (nice views, relaxing), saw Rennes Le Château, Hautpoul, Castres,...
8. Mazamet : nice town for a walk, we liked the Saturday market, cause it's not a typical tourist market : very few tourists, all locals. Good pizza at La Scala.
9. The breakfast : fresh French bread, homemade jam, lovely lemon cakes, fresh fruits, cheese, meat, juices, Nespresso,... Great way to get awake :-)
10. Last but not least : the fantastic dinners. Peter is a wonderful cook who creates great dishes. We had a combination of "classics" we tasted last year (but were very happy to eat them again) like the boeuf encroute (!!), the marinated salmon, the goat cheese tartelette, the chicken suprème with heavenly sauce,... and new dishes like lemon posset, tonka bean panna cotta, comté soufflé, fantastic ravioli,... If you like to talk about food/recipies, Peter is your man! :-)

We really enjoyed this second stay, hope to get back real soon!

Room Tip: The deluxe room is very nice, great view on the mountains.

Returning after 3 years there was always the fear of disappointment due to the passage of time and perhaps over enthusiastic reporting last time. Not a bit of it folks! Still my all time favourite chill out location. Mark and Peter professional and attentive as before and the food ....oh the food.
Will be back again soon....very soon. Have great season.

My partner and I recently stayed for 4 nights at La Villa and it really is the most perfect getaway. Mark and Peter have created the most gorgeous place- location, rooms, decor and food cannot be faulted. But it's the attention to detail and incredible service that provide the icing on the cake. Nothing is too much trouble - everything you could possibly wish for had been thought of (even tubs of my favourite ice cream in poolside fridge!) - and we were made to feel so welcome. We had dinner on 2 evenings and it was superb. We most definitely hope to return one day.

After reading about La Villa De Mazamet in a newspaper article in Australia last year we decided that if we were to return to France Mazamet would be our first stop. So it was with great excitement that in May we arrived in France and our first stop was at La Villa. From the moment we walked in the door we knew we were in for a treat. The warm welcome we received from Mark and Peter and the much appreciated welcome drink were only the beginning of what was to be a magnificent 5 day stay. Our upstairs balcony superior room was pure luxury with lovely views over the Montagne Noire. The attention to detail was evident right down to the monogrammed sheets! Our room was large, even had a walk in robe, comfortable, & we loved the marble fireplace.
But it is Mark and Peter, the owners, operators (& renovators) of La Villa, who make what would be a very pleasant stay a remarkable one. Mark, as front of house, is the perfect host and his knowledge of The Tarn areas runs rings around "The Lonely Planet"! With detailed day trip maps that are given to guests and also included valuable information on villages to visit, roads to take, driving times etc made our day trips a breeze to navigate. Mark also looks after the dining room at breakfast and dinner running it in a smooth, efficient way where nothing is too much trouble, and sometimes when there could be 16 plus guests dining this is no easy feat.
Meanwhile Peter is busy creating magic in the kitchen with amazing 4 course dinners that would easily challenge a Michelin star restaurant! We dined 3 nights at La Villa and the standard of dishes served to us never ceased to amaze. One particular dessert that involved a cardamon panna cotta with an incredible basil sugar will long live in my memory! If you are planning to stay at La Villa you MUST book yourself a table for dinner, you will be in for a treat!
Breakfast, which is included in the tariff, is a delight with fresh fruit, cheeses, cured meats, cereals, home made pastries, breads, jams etc. It's such a lovely way to start the day and enjoy the company of the other guests, some who keep coming back to stay at La Villa for very obvious reasons!
Mark and Peter I hope you realise that what you have created at La Villa is an absolute credit to you both. The level of comfort, the attention to detail, the interest you show in your guests, right down to booking and driving us to and from a restaurant one night, was so appreciated, and we loved your sense of humour! We are planning to also be return guests, thank you.

Very disappointed.... that we couldn't be the first to review this hotel.... since .....already so many honest and appropriate comments have been made by previous guests ...yes it's true that Mark and Peter are exceptional hosts but it is the small attention to detail that we really appreciated and noticed which sets this establishment apart and as a result ....is a ' must ' if you are looking for accommodation in the region.
Region???? ... Yes ...since it is the perfect location to base oneself to discover so many amazing places.. Mark is a mind of useful information and Peter and Mark have prepared a series of superb recommended routes including detailed maps, each full of suggested places of interest, eateries, things to do and THANK GOODNESS not pushing the normal tourist haunts which so often are full of coach loads of sightseers,
It is the small touches that set this place apart, no forgetting the superb dinners cooked by Peter ....isn't it a joy to find someone passionate about food and wine and prepared only to offer a 'one fits all' limited menu where local (and often organic) products are used extensively
Fancy something to eat out and about ? ... not a problem ....they have prepared a list and map of recommended restaurants (and boutique shops) to enjoy.. They have also negotiated various benefits and discounts and a guest card is provided to claim .....interestingly the discount is applied AFTER the meal is consumed and bill prepared, or the purchased is made..
As commented earlier ... It really is the small attention to detail that surprised us and there is no doubt that our stay here exceeded our wildest expectation...
Rumour has it that Mark and Peter are renovating a forest hideaway nearby for guests to enjoy.. Lets hope we can return one day...

I recently stayed at La Villa De Mazamet to celebrate my 34th birthday with my Mother. The Villa is simply gorgeous, the attention to detail is everywhere from the decor of the house to the comfort and spaciousness of the rooms not to mention the incredible food; dinners here are not to be missed.

Peter and Mark are the perfect hosts, friendly and professional and they make you feel completely welcome at all times.

The Villa is a little piece of luxury in the South of France, you will most certainly not be disappointed if you check in here for a few nights.

Mark and peter were the perfect hosts. They were very friendly, thoughtful and helpful, suggesting interesting sights and places to visit in and around Mazamet, even before we arrived at the villa.
The room was very comfortable, very relaxing ambience all round. Nice location for the villa.
The experience was like home away from home,we didn't want to leave. The food was fantastic, I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. My daughter and I had a truly wonderful time at La Villa and we will definitely be back.
