“I didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed 1 June 2009

This is not your typical saggy bed, bad decor, supermarket white toast Bed and Breakfast! We stumbled upon Villa de Mazamet when looking for a place close enough to explore Carcassonne - and close to golf and some walking trails. My first thought when I walked through the gates up to the fabulous entrance was, "oh my god, I wish this was my house". The best of the historic building was lovingly restored - the polished wooden floors, marble fireplaces, grand staircases - while the plumbing was all modern (big drench showers with an art deco flair!).

We ate dinner there on the first night (they offer a 4 course set menu) and it was so delicious that we booked in for dinner the next night too! After our walk on the second day, we arrived back at the Villa and the owners offered to prepare us a lunch buffet - consisting of fresh bread, salad, meats, cheese, pate, and a huge spread of cold fresh fruit. By the time we finished changing out of our hiking shoes, the outside tables were set and we enjoyed the afternoon sipping cocktails by the pool and indulging in the local fresh food!

The owners are extremely accommodating (interesting, funny, yet completely unobtrusive) so the common areas (pool area and sitting rooms) feel like you are in your own home. There are two sitting rooms – so guests have different places to relax – if you feel like leaving the comforts of the stunning bedrooms!

We stayed on the 3 for 2 offer and we all agreed that value for money was amazing. Plus, the dinner and lunch prices were less than the local restaurants and the quality and preparation of the food was excellent

Praise all around!

La Villa De Mazamet is a stunning building that has been renovated and refurbished by Mark and Peter to offer the most amazing accommodation in a wonderful area of France. Every room is beautifully furnished and the garden offers lovely areas to relax - great swimming pool too! We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and made to feel very at home. If you are planning a trip that takes in this area of France, La Villa De Mazamet should not be missed.

What a treat. La Villa de Mazanet is just stunning. Hosts and owners Peter and Mark warmly welcomed my friends and me into their B&B - more boutique hotel - which they have painstakingly refurbished in its orginal style and grandeur but with boutique hotel luxury and style. All their efforts have been worth it. The Villa and its grounds are as beautiful as the scenary surrounding Mazamet. On top of that, Mark and Peter delighted us with glorious local produce inspired - and restaurant class - food and wine. It was wonderful for a group (great golf course 5 minutes away and ideal for sight-seeing in Carcassonne and Albi nearby) but would be equally good for couples / business travellers. We'll be back!
