what a gem.!!! luxury at its best.........I was looking for a comfortable and affordable chambre d'hote for myself and my partner to escape to for the weekend.......and then I found "la villa mazamet" ! it was a sheer delight to stay here, the attention to detail ensures everything you could require for the perfect holiday. We have stayed in our fair share of hotels UK and abroad and like a little luxury as a treat, well this has topped them all and is very affordable. Mark and Peter, your hosts, have put their heart and soul transforming this magnificant building into what can only be described as "the perfect place to stay", the whole thing was perfect, from the minute we walked through the entrance gates we both knew we were going to have a lovely few days. 2 nights was definately not enough as there seems to be so much to do and you just don't want to leave. Both Mark and Peter make you feel so welcome, and are happy to help plan your days out or just have you relaxing at their wonderful home either by the pool or in one of the 2 sitting rooms. On the friday evening we had the pleasure of sampling Peters cuisine, what can I say? we quickly booked for the saturday night! Saturday started with a lavish breakfast followed by a walk around mazamet town and the market, then the afternoon was a bike ride down the old railway track preparing ourselves for another of Peters wonderful meals. Sunday was unfortunately the day for our departure but we managed a quick trip to Castre (only 15minutes drive away ) and a walk around the lac (only 5km away). We would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to experience this part of france, we are already planning our next visit..........thankyou

Such a beautiful place to stay and relax, fab little pool and beautiful gardens. The building has been restored and decorated wonderfully. The rooms are plush and elegant - huge beds and luxurious clean fresh linen, with pillows galore !! The evening meals if booked are a must, all locally sourced ingredients and cheeses and wine. The owners are a really nice pair, welcoming and friendly and very helpful for whatever you need, in the hotel or the area. A definite must for anyone.

We have just returned from a wonderful 4 nights' stay at the Villa Mazamet and cannot recommend it highly enough. Mark and Peter certainly have the X Factor when it comes to the perfect hosts! They have developed the art of making guests feel welcome and relaxed whilst working incredibly hard behind the scenes to ensure the highest possible standards of cleanliness, style and comfort. They really do go the extra mile in every aspect of the accommodation and care they provide. The bedroom and bathroom were beautiful - the nicest we have ever stayed in. We even had a view of the tree-covered black mountains from our bedroom window. We had 3 excellent evening meals (4 courses) in the stylish dining room during our stay. The quality of food and service were extremely high and the food / wine is sourced locally.
The Villa is in a quiet area of town but within easy walking distance of the town centre. Mazamet is an excellent base for exploring towns such as Albi, Carcassone and Castre. Mark and Peter have excellent local knowledge and were very helpful in suggesting places to go, things to do etc. The small swimming pool and surrounding seating area are immaculately clean - the perfect antidote to a hot day's sightseeing. We can't wait to return!

This is the most beautifully, and immaculately, presented boutique hotel I have ever experienced - and I have been priviliged in my working life to experience a great many hotels.
The attention to detail is superb. The food is absolutely delicious. And the hosts have an incredible way of making you feel as if it is your own home (in my dreams!).
We were a family of five, with our children ranging from 10 to 14 years. Peter and Mark catered for their needs as well as very cleverly anticipating ours. Chilled water by the pool side; fabulous wines to accompany equally fabulous dining; fluffy towels; crisp bed linen; lovely 'smellies' in the bathroom; and a lovely pool to cool down after enjoying a few hours sleep on the gorgeous sunbeds with deep cushions! Perfect. Just perfect!

We stayed at several venues during our recent visit to France, and La Villa de Mazamet was the absolute highlight. Mark and Peter were perfect hosts, and catered for everything we needed, and a few that we hadn't thought of. We were particularly impressed by the decor, and the restoration work that has gone into this lovely period property. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully furnished, sympathetically carried out, with individual touches. Local flowers in the rooms were lovely, and the original art work in the breakfast room added a extra touch of class to a relaxing yet smart room.

We had a fantastic time at Mazamet. Peter and Mark have incredible attention to detail yet are extremely relaxed with guests who are made to feel completely at home. The decor / surrounds are stunning and you really do feel special staying at Mazamet. There is so much to do nearby, renting a car is pretty much mandatory, I'd say once you are there so you can get around to the towns/sights nearby. WIthin 5 minutes, you are in stunning countryside outside of the town of Mazamet itself. Great golf course nearby with an entertaining last hole across a road - get the timing right!

The food was out of this world - every single meal was first class. I cannot praise this highly enough.

Thank you for letting us stay with you!

Anyone reading this - make the trip - you will not regret it!
