“wonderfull place”

Stayed here for 3 nights. (Mindfullness -course)
The place is absolutely a good experience. The staff is so helpfull, the food is excellent, natural and variated. The nature around the place is urging you to walk/swimm/run/sail.... just enjoying the nature.
The beds are good ( for me important)
Enjoy your coffee or tea in one of the cosy living-rooms after dinner.
Borrow a Bike at the hotel and go for a ride to Helnæs.

I came here with my boyfriend with a gift certificate to experience a bit of luxury, but boy were we disappointed! The deal we got was part of a "sweetdeal" so was supposedly cheaper than their list prices, however when i checked their prices before going, they had a cheaper deal than ours that included a five course menu (rather than just two courses), and a luxury room.

Upon arrival, i was struck by the beauty of the main building, however once you enter the hotel you quickly realize that most of the hotel is an annex that is built in the 60's and has a very institutional feel, with long dark corridors and gray walls. Our room was tiny and very basic, and the promised view consisted of a white wall just outside the window.

I told the reception we were disappointed with our room and she got very snappy with me, and told us that it was part of the deal to get a tiny room (despite having paid more than the people in the nicer rooms with a 5-course dinner), but if we were so inclined we could upgrade for 400 kr. (we are students so this wasn't really an option, and the trip was a gift to us).

We were also told by the receptionist that we had to be in the restaurant between 6 and 7pm to get the included dinner. (so it all felt a bit rushed because my boyfriend didn't arrive untill 6pm as he got lost on the way..)
The dinner was average, but the portions were tiny!!! (3 asparagus, 20 gr of shrimp, 100 gr of meat and 3 small potatos) My boyfriend who is very physically active left the table starving. The waiters however were our only positive experience in this place, they were very friendly, extremely helpful and proffesional in all aspects of their job.

after having dinner we decided to take a walk on the beautiful grounds and return home to our dorm room, since we both agreed it was cozier than staying at the hotel. The reception was already closed at 9.30 pm so we asked the waiters if they could help check us out since everything was already prepaid. This was no problem, but one of the waitressses was sad we didn't enjoy the stay and offered to give us one of the rooms upstairs, making it quite clear this wouldn't cost us anything, and saying she would personally clean the room the next morning. We were overwhelmed by her kindness, so we accepted, and I must admit that the rooms on the first floor are very nice, nothing like the cubicle that we were put in originally.

The next morning we had breakfast, which was good, (and a buffet thank god!), but when we checked out the receptionist wanted to charge us for staying in the nicer room. This took us by surprise, and we went to talk to the waitress to make sure we hadn't misunderstood her the night before. She assured us that she hadn't intended for us to pay anything. Either way our experience with the staff at reception was very negative, and it ruined what could have been a nice stay after the waitress was so kind to us.

Overall the surrounding area is beautiful and well worth a visit, but i wouldn't stay at this hotel. It's overpriced compared to what you get and the reception service is dismal going on non-existant.

The hotel was somewhat difficult to find since it was not really in Ebberup but it was very enjoyable and really a highlight of our trip. Definitely a drive to place. Beautiful grounds and location, large clean rooms, food service was outstanding, serene and quiet, great for biking and walking relaxation and friendly personnel.
