“Perfect place to stay”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

Perfect place to stay. Residence clean, well-run, quiet and well-positioned. Our "studio 4 personnes" was very quiet, well-heated and comfortable; lovely big bathroom. We were two grandparents with our 9yr old grandson who wanted to learn to snowboard. Residence well placed for food shopping, equipment rental and the village, and very close to the telecabines. Wifi service was not free, but good connection. Coffre fort was also an added cost. Special room with individual lockers to keep the ski and snowboard equipment was very useful. Only minus was the long journey up to Espiaube where the snowboard lessons were. Télécabines, then free navette, then further télécabine.

Stayed at Residence Les Rives de l'Aure again this year.
Whilst the complex is now looking a bit run down, it is still a good base for a winter holiday.
The rooms offer self catering facilities, these are basic but adequate.
Rooms and sleeping quantity is generally good.
The location is generally quite with little noise at night.
Internet works in the rooms for a reasonable price.
Ski lockers downstairs for all rooms.
Spa right next door a bit of relaxation.
New ski lift very close, but not open at end of season had to use old one.
Bars, shops and restaurants all close by within easy walking distance.

Pierre et Vacances present the Rives de l'Aure as four star accommodation, and as far as the location is concerned that's certainly true. Less than five minutes walk from the town centre, the two main acess lifts to the ski slopes can easily be walked in about the same time. Access to the most convenient (the telecabine) involves a short cut through the garden which was beautifully snow covered during our visit but may be on the muddy side when the snow line does not reach right down to the town.

As the name implies the banks of the River Aure are right behind the apartments and the sound of the river is a pleasing and unusual background for a ski resort. Municipal gardens, the swimming pool and the thermal spa health centre lie immediately to the north. So there are plenty of opportunities for an after ski stroll along the scenic river bank, or into the charming old town of Saint Lary.

The apartments themesleves are less impressive, and are now looking a bit tired. The level of furnishing and equipment is perfectly adequate but these days falls behind other more modern offerings in terms of comfort and style and might benefit from some updating. That said, there is often a trade-off between ski apartment detail and location, and this location has to be amongst the very best in Saint Lary.

The staff were cheerful and efficient, and there is underground and overground secured parking, though this cannot be pre-booked.

Situated half way between the new telecabine and the older gondola lift these apartments are an easy walk to either. very good for family rooms (especially the apartment designed for families with a baby). Excellent reception staff - knowledgable and keen to help.
