We were looking for a place without formality and of fair value serving good 'plain' French food. We found it at La Parte des Anges. Its setting is perfect - in the main square right by the Town Hall and its belfry. The services was good - friendly - and no nonsense. Food was plated good - two of us had the Duck and one the Foie de Veau (done rare in the way on the French can do - fantastic!). We would have preferred fresh veg rather than the load of chips we were given - but we were not given the choice. (Maybe they assumed that since we were Brits it was a 'chips with everything' situation?!) Nice bottle of very reasonably priced claret too, If you are looking for an 'easy meal' with good value - go for it. You can sit outside too when the weather is clement - stunning setting.

Very recently under new management. We enjoyed a well cooked and generous two courses + 2 drinks for €43 for two on a Sunday lunchtime. During weekday lunches (except feast days) this would have cost around €35 inc the drinks, as there are various 'menu' deals on offer, but we still felt that we had enjoyed great value and good quality at €43. I would thoroughly recommend the gijons d'Agneau. The restaurant has a very unassuming frontage at the side of the square, but inside it is tastefully decorated and cosy. The service was excellent, not fluent English but enough to get over my travellers French. Will definitely come here again next time we are passing through on the way back to Calais

Stayed in Arras on way home. This restaurant was very welcoming and friendly. The food was quite simple but well prepared, with 3 courses for less than 25 euros. The hosts took time translating the menu and after invited us to a round of vodka shots after the meal. We would recommend this establishment for anyone looking for a simple meal in a friendly atmosphere.

My wife and I booked a table here on the back of the positive reviews we'd read on TA. What a mistake. Firstly the regular menu on display outside had been replaced by a very restricted St Patrick Day's special menu with a choice of 3 mains: sea food chowder; beef in Guinness or Mixed Irish Kebab. Starters of scallop broth and foie gras were at best forgettable, the main courses were luke warm on arrival and insipid. The food compared favourably to the service however. The only waiter on duty (it only has c20 covers) seemed more interested in sitting at the bar talking to a brunette and smoking cigarettes in the open doorway letting a chill straight into the dining area. I complained but he did it again soon after. Despite its external appearance there are infinitely better restaurants within a 2 minute walk from this place.
