“A good stay in a good city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

A very good central location and parking spaces can be booked (but remember to turn left out of the parking areas). A little on the expensive side for extras but whilst I never like paying 15 euros for breakfast it probably was one of the best I have had in France. Staff usually quite attentive and the rooms are well appointed. Plenty to do in Boulogne and the hotel is easy to find being opposite Nausicaa which is well signposted throughout the city.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms are good but can be noisy during the day.

We stayed here one night on a family break. We booked a standard double room, and our 7 year old roughed it on the floor; there was lots of space in the room.
The staff were very friendly. They supplied us with a plug adapter for my laptop, which I had forgotten to pack, and had some swimming costumes to sell us, at €8 each which we’d also neglected to bring.
The pool is tiny, and a bit of a challenge if you were hoping for some exercise. There is a jet of water, that can be activated from the discreet button, which provides a bit of current to swim against. Otherwise, it was 4 strokes to swim a length of the pool. Perfect for splashing around in with kids though. The hot tub was also pleasant.
The restaurant was a real treat. Very expensive for the 3 of us, but definitely deserving of it’s michelin star. Amazing food and fantastic service.
The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good. I’m struggling to find fault here, other than it was rather expensive.

Stayed here for second time last weekend. We cannot fault this hotel, staff VERY friendly and helpful. The decor of hotel is iggledipigglede, and charming, so French! ( go Best Western if you want complicity). Yes the pool may not be Olympic size, but well enough to chill and have gentle exercise, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym was more than ample, in London you would pay a premium for this. Some(most) things should NOT be measured by monetary value alone, this is a good example. I would pay more to stay here, of course I would rather not, but this is a taste of real France, we have lived there. A real gem, watch out, the area is up and coming. We just keep on finding reasons to nip off for a break here. Had a good banter last Friday evening in lounge, when France were on fine form!!

We stayed two separate nights at the beginning and end of a tour of Northern France. The first night we were with a group that I was leading and we dined in their private room on a spectacular and lavish menu degustation. The second night, I was alone with my husband.

The rooms are a decent size - possibly a little over-furnished and a bit fussy - comfortable bed with good linen and a bathroom with everything needed provided. Major plus was an array of plugs above the desk - why can't all hotels manage this?! Good kettle provision and reasonably priced mini bar.

Breakfast both mornings was delicious with an excellent buffet and made to order scrambled eggs.

William behind the front desk was brilliant at helping me with all the logistics of booking for a group and designing the menu. Meeting him in person was a pleasure, he was unfailingly smiling and helpful in every respect.

I have always liked Boulogne and the surrounding country and we used to go to the Matelotte about once a year. This was 20 years ago before they added the hotel. The restaurant has always been good. We returned in March, with friends, and the restaurant was as good as we remembered it. It deserves its Michelin star and that's all that needs to be said about that. The hotel was fine too in that quirky, eccentric French style that is not found anywhere else. Obviously fitted to suit the old house they acquired so the rooms were quite small by modern standards but adequate and very comfortable. It was a pleasure to return.

Boulogne may not be the best place for a long visit but a couple of days is just fine especially at this Hotel. Cosy, welcoming and friendly. The room was a nice size with all niceties one would expect. Parking available too and the location on the seafront just about 10 - 15 mins walk into town. The Hotel restaurant was also a delight. Excellent food, though a little on the fussy side with no simple options. A culinary and visual delight. The wine list is also excellent and worth exploring. Dinner leisurely and a good dining experience. The service attention was just right on our first night. The second not quite so good but adequate. The food though made up for everything.

Room Tip: We chose the Junior Suite.

.Discovered almost 20 years ago first of all as just a "Five Star" restaurant serving the most beautiful food you could treat yourself to!
Now for some years offering accommodation with the same Michelin-starred restaurant!
Situated just up from the Nausicas centre and only a short walk from the town and beach.
Rooms are very well appointed, clean and come along with a heated indoor pool, jacuzi, sauna and small wellness centre.
Staff are excellent and efficient. Small secure car park at the rear of the hotel is bookable.
