We booked this place via bookings.com. It was the last place we could find in Boulonge on a Saturday night at short notice. To this end it was satisfactory. I would say that you would choose this place if it fitted your budget. It has pros and cons. Make sure you get a lower floor room if you have heavy bags or can't climb stairs. We had room on top floor which made carrying bags up a big deal. The room is well organised for a tiny room. Have to climb up into shower which could be difficult for some. The wifi seems to only be available in the dining room and was quite satisfactory there. The TV in our room was disconnected from the power which was at ceiling height so needless to say we went without. In summary it was OK for a 2 star as advertised.

Room Tip: The lower the floor, the better.

Really well situated hotel. Comfortable simple and excellent shower. Stairs not steep but ask for a first floor room before if you have mobility issues. Very friendly staff. Spotless throughout. Breakfast adequate. Plenty of parking available outside.

Room Tip: Book your room beforehand

We'd rather stay somewhere where we feel welcome than some sort of "corporate prison" and Hotel Au Sleeping delivers. Mme. Minet makes one feel welcome upon arrival which must be somewhat precise as reception is only available at certain hours of the morning or evening. Parking is free on the street near the hotel or in the back of the hotel. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the old walled city and its sights. Breakfast is served as if you were having it in a friend's home, not a hotel. Rooms are basic but you're not there to be in the hotel, you're there to be experiencing the richness of historic Boulogne!

A warm welcome was given on arrival and the lady on reception was very helpful and informative about the local area, the hotel was in a great location close to the port, train station and city centre and only a 30 minute drive from the Tunnel and had free on street parking directly in front. The room was very basic but clean situated on the back of the hotel it was very quiet and delivered a good nights sleep. The breakfast was basic and I wouldn't really recommend it. Overall ideal for a quick stop over.

Arrived in Boulogne not having anywhere to stay for the night and this was the first hotel we came to and is the nearest to the train station, the room was cheap and clean with an OK shower.
The bed was very low down and had a thin mattress but was comfortable enough, we were in a room at the front of the hotel and arrived back at night to find the sign for the hotel lighting up our room, luckily the room had a shutter which blocked out the light, the room was quite hot throughout the night and i imagine that during the summer it would be really stuffy as it has no air conditioning. My advice would be that this room is ok but there is a nicer looking hotel for around the same price a little further down the road, if you're not in a rush to get to the train station i would advise having a look there as well...

Room Tip: try not to get one at the front we were in room 8

Stayed here on an overnight shopping break with friends. Check in 5.30 onwards as no one is about until then, but parking outside hotel is not time restricted, and our friends car was safe with no issues leaving luggage in boot etc.
Rooms were hit and miss I think with quality. Ours was not recently decorated, had a mini kettle but no coffee/tea facilities, whereas our friends had coffee/tea available. So I think more to do with what the maids leave after cleaning etc. We were in room 1 which unfortunately with the paper thin walls/floor was disrupted with kitchen noises and other room occupants snoring etc and the usual through traffic. The rooms are very warm, but windows work ok so you can get some air etc. TV all french but then you don't book these hotels for their TV choices now do you!
Location - good but a bit of a hike to the old town which is really lovely. The Vole Hole bar was small but welcoming but worth a visit. Nice restaurant was found opposite the theatre on the left hand side (opposite the Aussie Outback bar!).
As with France and these port areas, the toilet facilities / cleanliness was poor in bars and eateries, but the hotel was very clean in comparison!
Ok for an overnight stay but expect budget and you won't be disappointed. Think you could find something better and it being only slightly more expensive.

We booked this hotel because we were travelling with a single friend & this was the only hotel we could find in central Boulogne that had single rooms. As it turned out, he was given a double but still paid the single price. I've read reviews of this hotel that complain about difficulties in getting into the hotel, but Madame was there when we arrived at 5.30pm, and she couldn't have been more welcoming. We were given a code to get back in after dinner, this worked perfectly.
The rooms were basic and not too spacious, but very clean, ours appeared to have been recently decorated & the shower room was new. I was surprised at the lack of traffic noise, being on a major road, but we were at the back and it was very quiet,. We heard a couple of trains (it's near the station) in the morning, but they weren't loud enough to have woken us up.
There's free parking available outside the hotel, with no time limit, and we were just a 5 minute walk from Place Dalton in the centre of town.
The only niggles were that I asked for non-smoking rooms, but it was obvious that ours was not - there was a smell of cigarette smoke, but not overwhelming and the mattress was a bit on the firm side. Also, and this is no fault of the hotel, our sat-nav sent us to the wrong end of the road!
All in all I would say that this is an excellent no frills, good value hotel for an overnight stay for a booze-cruise or before getting your ferry home from your holidays.
