“a fantastic place to stay in the heart of the old town.”
Reviewed 19 December 2017 for a stay in December 2017

This is our 5th year visiting Boulogne and we always used to stay in a budget hotel near the river - however as my parents are now a little older we wanted to stay closer to the old town to avoid quite so much walking in the evenings.

Well you can't get much closer that this, as it's in the heart of the old town around the corner from the basilica. You're about 2 minutes walk from the local boulangerie and less than 5 from most of the restaurants and bars in the old town.

The property itself is lovely, a very good size and perfectly set out for 2 adult couples - the bathroom is huge and there's a downstairs cloakroom as well. The kitchen is well equipped and even in December it was lovely and warm all the time. It;'s a nice mix of old and modern and has absolutely everything you could need.

There's no off street parking on site and the road is very narrow, but there is a free car park at the end of the street and further free parking outside the city walls, so that really wasn't a concern for us.

All in all I would definitely recommend!

Absolutely fantastic house, everything you could need and in a fantastic location in the old town.

Just a short stroll round the corner to restaurants and bars or you can venture out of the old town and down to the port and beach. We loved the Vole Hole and The Froggy Blue for drinks in the old town.

The owners have paid a great deal of attention to little touches with things like good quality towels and bedding etc giving the house a feeling of luxury.

We will definitely book again.

“Contemporary, Spacious, Well-located, Quiet and CLEAN”

We loved this house. It was sparkling clean - holiday lets often leave a lot to be desired on the cleaning side of things. There was lots of space in the bathroom and main bedroom for putting away all your things - not always the case with holiday lets. Super big bathroom with decent water pressure with additional separate loo downstairs. The kitchen was a great size and had a dishwasher (but no washing machine). The street was very quiet at night, although only steps away from a bakery, creperie, bar and restaurants.

The only things missing were a bread knife and cooks knives in the kitchen - there were just two small paring knives. However, the bakery round the corner will cut your loaf for you if you ask them.

It would also be nice to have a guest book where you could leave comments - such as tips on good local restaurants - for those coming after you.

Boulogne-Sur-Mer was a little quiet for us, but if we did ever return here, we would definitely rent this house and we have already passed the details on to someone we met in a local bar who was staying in a hotel but planned to return and wanted a holiday let.

“Superb Accomodation,Ideal Location To Old Town Shops And Restaurants”

We live in Swansea, Wales and wanted a week away in France just for the two of us to recharge our batteries before returning to work.
After alot of searching on trip advisor, we booked this gite after seeing the stunning pictures and reviews of the gite. Wow were we impressed! Very modern, spotlessly clean with everything you would need for the perfect stay.
Location is ideal, near the beautiful old town with the main street and all the restaurants and cafes just minutes away.
Parking is via a free car park around the corner, but on arrival we parked outside and dropped off our luggage in the gite, then parked in the free car park for the week.
New town of Boulogne is about 15-20 mins walk away and Nausicaa about 30 mins, which is a must see when you visit Boulogne.
Aliain and Cathie were so welcoming, even with our poor French.
We had a fantastic stay and will definately be returning in 2017.

“Wonderful!!!!!”
Reviewed 14 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

What a find!!! We live in Kent and wanted a quick trip to France for a long weekend. We figured Boulogne was a good bet, and found this wonderful place via trip advisor.

It was immaculate, and decorated and fitted to an extremely high standard. Beds are very comfy, and there is loads of space.

Location is perfect - right in the beautiful old town with the main street and all the restaurants just moments away, with a car park less than a minutes walk. The new town centre is only a 15 minute stroll away, but we stayed in the old town the whole time pretty much.

We will definitely visit again!!! You will not regret booking this flat, it was fabulous.

“Fabulous accommodation, great location, very friendly & helpful owner.”
Reviewed 10 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Wonderful gite newly refurbished with a stylish mix of modern design and preservation of the history of the building. The accommodation is a three storey town house with loads of character including exposed beams and original stonework features. The main living area combines brand new kitchen (complete with all the appliances and cooking utensils you need), breakfast bar, dining area, lounge and study area. Upstairs on the top floor are two bedrooms with exposed beams and very comfortable beds, and a luxurious bathroom complete with walk in shower. There are interesting views from every window in the gite.

The location is first rate in the heart of the fortified city within 30 seconds walk of the Basilica (as shown in attached photo), and minutes from the central square and shops / restaurants. Our two children (7 & 4) loved the gite, and while we were there they enjoyed visiting the aquarium (Nausicca - also a 5 star experience), a walk around the city walls, the castle museum and the Basilica. Nausicca is 25 minutes walk from the gite, the other are all less than 5 minutes. You can park outside the gite to unload, and the free public parking within the city walls is only 1 minute walk away. We had no trouble finding a space and no concerns about security (despite car being full with a roofbox on top).

Thank you for a wonderful stay. I simply cannot recommend this accommodation enough - if you are visiting Boulogne you must stay here!
