Our room for 4 was bigger than expected and included a fairly large bathroom. The beds were comfortable. The staff was extremely nice - even loaned us wine glasses so we could open a bottle of wine and sit on a town wall and watch the sun set. Staying on Le Mont St. Michel is justified by the quiet experience after 5:00 pm. By day, it's overun by tourists buying trinkets. At night, there's only a few people walking Le Grande Rue. It's like having a medieval town almost to yourself.

Room Tip: One drawback was the noisy deliveries starting at 6:00 a.m. right under our window. I read of annex...

My ten year old son and husband decided to stay overnight on the island and really enjoyed the experience. There are many other hotels located along the causeway within a 20 minute walk but the convenience of staying was worth doing once.

We drove in our rental car and you are able to park in one of the closer lots if you present your reservation to the parking attendent. I would recommend packing just a simple overnight bag which is easier to carry versus bringing even a small suitcase which would be difficult to navigate thru the crowded cobblestone streets. The parking lot is very close to the entrance and returning to the car for items is easy. There is a grocery store before the causeway to avoid paying ridiculous prices for bottled water, sodas, snacks if needed.

Our room was ready by 3 pm and we were able to stow away our overnight bag at the hotel while exploring the sights. We reserved a triple and and was given a room (#102) with a window facing the street, exposed wooden beams preserving the character of a 14th century inn, two twin beds and a double bed. The bathroom had been updated but tiny soaps, basic toiletries and no hair dryer.

We had plenty of time to really explore not only the abbey but walk along the ramparts and towers, twisted little paths, alleys, cemeterys, and ventured out onto the marshy and sandy flats during low tide. We enjoyed lunch dining on mussels and wine at an outside cafe and walking around again at night after the crowds had left. Walking outside along the causeway after the sun sets, you can enjoy the Mont lit up at night.

If you have time in your itinerary, it is worth doing once.

Room Tip: Room #102 facing the street quiet at night but noisy early morning with deliverys

Great base for exploring the Mont, be sure to take guided tour with recordings for most information about the cathedral/church complex. Our room was on top floor with 2 ancient windows, bed ok, bathroom was fine, considering plumbing had to be added to a Renaissance structure. Breakfasts were on balcony "next door, connected" with beautiful sunrise views. the food was pretty good, not spectacular. Tip: if you have car, leave suitcases in trunk and bring in small bags with just things needed for that stay. No elevator, stairs inside. Staff were very nice. Good value considering the other hotels.

Room Tip: We chose 3 night half-pension reservation to eat breakfast & dinner at their restaurant, because...

The hotel is 14th centrury. The room was very charming, but small. Staying on the mont allows for the exploration of the mont after all the tourists leave. High tide was at 19:00, the walk at night is very romantic and peaceful. The restaurant is also worth a visist.
The mont is a great historical visit.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor. Would reccoment.

This place was OK but definately our least favorite place to stay ono our two week trip to france. I would suggest not to stay on the island. The food is about the same at all of the hotel there and the price is about 50 euros a person (about $70) - my husband got a steak at the resturant here that wasn't even warm in the middle when he asked for his steak to be med well done. and he speaks french!! so the waiter understood what he was asking for. and the THIN walls well lets just say- there are some sounds of the night that we could've done without hearing. The breakfast was an average french breakfast - but just down the road in the city is a very nice store with a pattisserie attached to it. Stay in town and just drive in for the day.

Room Tip: don't stay here

Service - varied from average to great. One lady allowed us to check-out late for free so some ill friends could rest in the room, which was very much appreciated.
Value - expensive for the hotel but expected for Mont St Michel.
Sleep Quality - average. Saggy beds.
Cleanliness - average.
Location - excellent. Located within the monument and a short walk up from the main entrance. A couple of minutes walk out to the carpark to catch the bus back to the train station.
Rooms - quite shabby and small. Very cramped if staying upstairs in a quadruple room as the roof is slanted so it is easy to hit your head and hard to get in and out of bed. Small but adequate bathroom. No lounge/common room.

Overall impression - quite a run-down place but this could also be labeled as 'cosy.' Adequate for 1 night. Would stay again as we're just looking for a place to sleep. However, would look around for other nearby accommodation in the future.
