We booked the Auberge Saint Pierre for one night for our family of 4 (paying about E320!!) and ended up in a room at Les Logis du Chapeau Blanc, which is apartments/room that are independent of the hotel. This was a blessing and I highly recommend Chapeau Blanc. It’s about 250m away – a little up the hill, up quite a few steps – but it is well off the main shopping street and well off not part of the normal tourist “route”.
The environs are magical. It's certainly worth staying overnight on La Mont Saint Michel, as most of the crowds leave around 5pm, and you can have a more peaceful walk around the island and the Abbey.
The bedroom was large with 2x2 twin beds, a sofa, TV, mini-fridge, desk etc. And the bathroom was lovely and fresh too. The room was completed refurbished and totally modern inside, and spotlessly clean. A nice surprise, for some reason.
We paid for the breakfast, which was not fantastic. In fact, all the food we had at La Mont can be best described as average. Not even as good as the usual tourist site fare. And expensive. Very expensive. Disappointing, but we weren’t there for food. The island and the Abbey itself are spectacular – especially after 4 or 5pm.More
