“Fantastic”

Superb gite. Light, airy, spotlessly clean. It started the moment we arrived, to a bottle of wine and two beers in the fridge waiting for us along with the other essentials like bread, butter, milk. Every consideration for us to have the best time. There was a handout meticulously giving details of places to visit in the area, providing how to get there, where to park, child friendly. When you only have a week it saved us so much time. Pat and Ian, the owners, made us feel sooooo welcome. They really are the perfect hosts. It felt like a home from home. The area itself is stunning. So much to do and see and for all ages. We're not the sporty types but the walks were amazing. Of course at the end of the day there was nothing better than coming back to sit in the beautiful garden and just watch the world go by. Will we go back- most definitely. We would we stay here again- YES PLEASE. Thank you Pat and Ian for the best time!

“Best gite in over 30 years of holidays in France”
Reviewed 15 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

A fantastic gite, in a great location close to Mont St Michel. The hosts - Pat and Ian - who live next door, were really welcoming and always on hand for advice/information. Probably the best "welcome pack" in over 100 previous gite holidays in France. Great value-for -money in a superb area of western Normandy. Close to most UK and Channel Island ferry services. So many interesting places to see, excellent local restaurants.

Reviewed 13 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

What a great find, Sunset cottage was everything & more.
Spotlessly clean, home from home comforts, lots of little extras & owners on hand to offer help, advice & true hospitality.
Pat & Ian make sure they look after their guests & nothing is too much trouble.
Great location for exploring Normandy & Brittany.

“A five star vacation rental home!”
Reviewed 17 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Having read the reviews of Sunset Cottage, I knew we would be in for a wonderful stay in Normandy. Arriving there we were thrilled to find the accommodation to be more than what we had expected. The home was cozy and tastefully decorated, every room was well appointed and the kitchen had everything needed to enable us to cook in at night.
Our host and hostess, Ian and Pat were more helpful than the best paid tour guides ever! When we arrived they not only had a beautiful "welcome" basket in the kitchen with everything we needed for breakfast the next morning but because I have dietary restrictions Ian jumped in the car with us and took us to the nearest grocery store before closing time! They gave us directions and suggestions regarding tourist attractions in the area and checked on their computer for maps to print and any general knowledge we might need to make our touring by car go smoothly.
The location was superb! Being in the quiet countryside was a treat for us. Having Mont St. Michael practically in our back yard was a bonus. We saw the historic abbey so many times as we travelled to and from our home away from home. Everything we wanted to see was easily reached from Sunset Cottage including Juno Beach which was our initial reason for visiting the area at the beginning of our 6 week vacation in Europe.
As we visited in the area we found the residents friendly and helpful. The French language was not a barrier. My husband is bilingual but most people spoke English very well.
The thing I liked best about Sunset Cottage was everything from the superb location, to the friendly caring owners, to the gorgeous sunsets, to the well appointed home itself! I will never forget sitting in the yard at the end of the day watching the corn grow, hanging our washing outside on an umbrella clothesline and the smell of the clothing when we brought it in, waving to the men driving their tractors home from the fields at dusk, the black at night with no streetlights to shine in the bedroom windows and feeling at home! The thing I liked least was that we were only able to stay 5 days. When we left our host encouraged us to call anywhere in France if we ran into trouble or needed his help in any way. We felt we left "family" behind.

“The best!”
Reviewed 3 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed here for a week at the end of the summer season, and despite the weather, had a wonderful time, both through staying in this very comfortable cottage and exploring the local area. Very conveniently situated for day trips to Mont St Michel (of course), but also historic towns such as Dol de Bretagne, St Malo, Dinan, Fougeres -all within easy driving distance about an hour or less. We would pack up lunch, borrow their flask, pick up the bucket and spade (they had everything!) call in at the boulangerie in nearby Beauvoir or Pontorson for the daily baguette and off we'd go. It was very helpful to have a welcome pack on arrival after our long drive with small child , with some basics so we didn't have to go out again. Pat and Ian were very friendly and helpful always.

“Little bit of heaven..”
Reviewed 29 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Just back from 2 glorious weeks at Sunset Cottage. I would have no hesitations in returning to or recommending this property to friends & family. Very comfortable, spotless and very well equipped Gite in a stunning setting. Its not called sunset cottage for nothing!
Pat and Ian are excellent hosts full of tips for your stay. Nothing is too much trouble. The are incredibly accommodating to young children which I really appreciated.
There is loads of local information in the Gite - supermarkets/restaurants- local beaches - nearby towns and all the must see attractions of Normandy.Would definitely return!

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed 9 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Sunset Cottage was a wonderful find. Friendly owners but they didn't intrude. The cottage is spotlessly clean and well furnished. The kitchen had everything one could ask for in the way of equipment. The beds were comfortable and we really felt at home here.

The area is quiet and peaceful with stunning views and interesting towns and villages. We had one of our best holidays at Sunset Cottage.
