We stayed here for the second time over the Whitsun half term with Canvas Holidays.
We drive from Calais after a Eurotunnel crossing and with decent stops takes 8hrs, there are crossings closer but you pay for priviledge.
We love this site, yes the pitches are not huge and some of the caravans are quite close, but we don't go away to stay in the caravan! The site and the towns around are quite quiet at this time of year, but I can imagine that they are incredibly noisy and busy in the summer! the last weekend of our stay a lot more caravans were occupied with french holiday makers and there was a difference in noise levels, people coming and going quite late (even though I thought no vehicles were allowed onsite after 11pm) and music could be heard.

The Canvas vans are a good size for a family of 4, larger families would probably have more space in a 3 bed, they were also clean and well maintained. The Canvas pitches are scattered around the site and any problems are resolved incredibly quickly (our boiler wasn't working to start with, fixed in 5 mins). Clare and Michael were lovely and friendly and always put their hand up or stopped to check if there was anything we needed. The kids couriers Rachel and Shaun were brilliant with the kids, as a family extra site with Canvas there was a huge timetable of activities for all ages, sweetie bingo and the chocolate party are always popular as is water walkers!
The site has a small shop with bread and other essentials, there is also a Super U 5 mins down the road as you head towards the beach, but the Hyper U in St-Hillaire-de-Riez has much better choice and better prices too!
There is a bar onsite but the drinks in my opinion are quite expensive, 5 euros for a beer/spirt and mixer) especially compared to the price you can buy a nice bottle of wine for at the supermarket, there are pool tables and games machines to entice the kids and a good snack bar with Pizza's chips and panini's.
There is wifi at the site you can pay for but not sure on price, I think it was 2euros an hour or a week for 20euros, but to be honest I go to get away from that!

The beach is gorgeous, wide stretches of white sand that shelves away gently, it is walkable from the campsite with buckets and spades etc but takes 10-15mins with children, there are toilets and a little cafe as well as a car park and spaces for motorhomes.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiter pitch away from the pool and play areas!

We booked direct with the company, spoke to a wonderful lady who couldn't be more helpful if she tried! ( you do now have to book your own ferries at the time) well as always a drive down from Cherbourg took about 4 and a bit hours, surprised the rep crumbs your early ,but didn't faze her she showed us to a wonderful mobile spotless ,well equipped, decking BBQ (gas) its a bit of a tight fit with all the mobiles on site and the car spaces are very small,I took a Saab 95 , small shop on site only essentials stocked and not over priced; a good superU up the road 10 mins walk. and the beaches are walkable but not for me to old! drove to the car park 5 mins ,i know its not that far! lots of good beaches near by. restaurants again just up the road. there is a takeaway on site but if pizzas aren't your bag not a great choice. that said reasonable for campsite takeaways. into St Jean we particularly like the restaurant Le Colonel on the sea front ,the patron is very welcoming and service is good. Varied menu from escargot to seafood and steaks the wine list is also quite good. have been eating here now for 12 years. says it all.

Room Tip: ask if possible to be sited away from the club/pool it can be a bit noisy, but you are on holiday and so are others/it does quiet down about 12.30 ish.

Visited this campsite for 4 years. Have been so impressed we eventually bought our own caravan in 2012. The sight is welcoming and friendly and suits people of all ages from small children to the elderly. The pool and bar area have been extensively improved. There is plently of entertainment on offer if you wish to participate, from exercising in the pool, football, volleyball, bingo and musical bands. The onsite convienience store is useful and there is a supermarket within a short walk. You will need a car to get around. The centre of St. Jean de Mont is very busy in August. The beach is a 10 min walk up the road and is lovely and sandy. You feel safe on the site with a security guard patrolling in high season. The people in reception are always happy to help and advise. One year our toilet got blocked, this was reported and within 2 hours a plummer turned up and fixed it. There are 3 shower blocks, toilets and washing machines on site. Having bicyles is useful for getting around locally which you can hire.
Would thoroughly recommend this site to families and friends of all generations.

Room Tip: Book directly through the site and if you wish to be in a quiet position ask to be further away from the bar. Definatly ask for a van with a sun terrace.

we stayed here for 10 nights at the end of august. we were with canvas holidays and had a 2 bed caravan . we travelled by car with overnight ferry crossings . i will point out a few things that may be of use if you are thinking of this type of holiday or even this site...
this is the second time we have done this type of holiday and both times with canvas ..
firstly this is not a cheap holiday overall cost amounts to the same as a 4 star all inclusive , we are a family of 4 with a 12 and 13 year old.
having said that its a different type of holiday offering different things.
you will definatly need a car and hence the majority of people driving with ferry or eurotunnel crossings, there is many different crossing locations and lengths of crossings some overnight and some day crossings and this is down to your own preference i have tried day and night crossings . I would suggest that if you like driving and are confident driving in france then you reely dont need the hassle of a long overnight crossing they reely take up nearly a full day and are very teedious i would go for the shortest available crossing and have a good rest stop somewhere this way in most cases you can get there within 20 hours , and the same when you travell home.
canvas are a decent reputable company easy to deal with and helpful, the reps at the site are the ususal year gap students but they were great with the kids and worked hard enough .
the caravan was a big let down a very basic and extremley small and a bit smelly , no decking and the outside space was just sand and weeds .
Camping acappulco is a big enough site with a good pool complex , on site bar and restaurant with takeaway available, theres a shop/bakery, and the usual bike hire and tennis court . On site the drinks are very expensive and another big let down was the evening entertainment basically all aimed at and spoken in french. The site is rammed full of caravans some of them nearly touching each other .
the local area is pleasant enough beach is very quiet and about 10min walk , there are a few restaurants and one bar (le new jack ) and the mini golf is good ...
the super u supermarket is just down the road but we found it lacking much choice and lots of empty shelves there is a hyper u along the road at st hillier which was massive with lots of choice well worth the drive about 10-15mins .
we spent most days around the pool which opens at 9.15 you cant towel the beds , the weather was fabulous we all came home with tans .
having stayed previousley at atlantique in brittany which was much more sapcious and private we found acapulco very cramped.
all in all we have done this twice now and think its very over priced , disappointed with the canvas caravan but the canvas service is ok.
if we ever holiday in france again would def just do a short dover/calais crossing and get there a lot quicker, canvas reely have to review there pricing back to all inclusive for us for a couple of years

Room Tip: book a larger caravan with decking but your gona pay more!

We booked 6 nights and only stayed 3. This campsite was large and lively much to lively for us. Our pitch was right beside the playground which was do noisy past midnight every night when we told reception they said the security should have dealt with the noise (no sign of any security) during our stay. The pool area was overcrowded and never had enough sun loungers. The beach was long 15 min walk uphill. The site is mainly mobile homes and services are not convenient for motorhomes the chemical and grey waste were a trek for my husband. There were always a que for the showers. Delighted that we took the decision to leave early
