We choose this site as it was listed as a 5 star camp site with all the amenities for a child of 6 however I have stayed in much better camp sites that deserve this rating.
Overall the camp site was very clean, the pool was great with limited space and sunbeds but I guess this is normal for August.
The entertainment was very poor, in a cramped room which was on late for young children.
The camp site itself was very noisy late into the night or early next morning, even if you were far away from the central location.
For older children there is a fun fair near by which is great but the noise doesn't stop until late. Amenities and beach are also close which is ideal.
Regarding the caravan, we went with Hello France, staff were friendly but the caravan was dirty but this doesn't surprise me when I found out the reps did the cleaning so it was just a "quick" job. There was no inventory hence we didn't have any breakfast bowls or glasses, bin and microwave were broken.
Overall my recommendation would be "try another site" as this one was just OK.

We chose this site as it had previously had good reviews and was classed as 5 star. Stayed in 4 berth cabin via 'Hello France' which had seen better days, but I will say that the site reps were very helpful. Public areas clean and tidy and pool / playground really good for kids but very limited evening entertainment for them and what is on doesn't start until 9pm.

The fair nearby was fun to go to but belted out music until midnight so no point in trying to sleep before then making it not ideal for younger kids.

Nearby is a supermarket, restaurants and shops which ment you are not getting ripped of by an onsite store and there are good beaches close by.

I would suggest that if you had older kids this site would be great, younger ie: 6 and below you may struggle.

If you want 5 Star I would suggest Sequoia Parc near Royan.

Went with Eurocamp. Stacked into a car park site opposite Le Clarys! Could swear I paid for Le Clarys. Kids had to cross busy main road to get to pool and amenities, had to be with them all the time! Caravan backed directly on to busy main road with night clubs, sleep not an option. Paid for a decking but think I substituted my garden for it. Appalling, rip off.

Eurocamp, Customer Care Team at Le Clarys Plage, responded to this review, 28 August 2014
Thank you for your feedback on your recent holiday at Le Clarys Plage.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the location of your accommodation during your stay. Some of our accommodation is situated in an annexed area of the parc which is separated by a road. We aim to provide as much information as possible before booking so that customers can make informed holiday decisions, which is why this was mentioned in our brochure and is currently published on our website as well as printed on customer invoices. The Vendée is a very popular destination in the height of summer with many activities going on for all ages, and we’re sorry for any disruption to your holiday.

Kind regards

Stayed with Charles -Alexandra Holidays, last 2 weeks in July, located on site across road from main site. Very well maintained and quiet. The C.A. Reps were very friendly and helpful.

A fantastic family holiday with 3 kids (12, 10, 8). Campsite is very well run, pool area is the best we have been to (3 previous campsites) and caters for all ages. The staff in bar were excellent and the pizza is tasty. Perfect area if you don't want to spend too much time in car. Can walk to shops/restaurants/beach.
There is a small wine shop on the opposite side of the road to SuperU that do wine tastings and sell local wines

Room Tip: For better beaches drive into St Jean De Monts (10mins)

Stayed with canvas in a ready tent for a week at the end of July. Went with three other families but although we booked a year before and asked to be situated together at no time did canvas holidays tell us that they I'd not have four tents together. Not so great start to the holiday to turn up and be separated . The canvas reps were excellent very helpful, the tents were well equipped .

The camp was very tightly packed with caravans and tents ,only used one shower block near the bar it was always very clean. The pool was a lot smaller than portrayed in the brochure or video but the children enjoyed it. Never enough sun beds we had to queue by 9-45 even though the pool didn't open till 10-30.
The bar area was nice the staff very friendly ,the take away reasonable. Found the entertainment either non existent or very poor. There wasn't much to do in the area . There was a very large fair that had very loud music played till gone midnight no chance of any sleep till it had stopped. Would holiday with Canvas again but not to this camp.

We went end of July until early August with Thomson Alfresco. The site is really nice, the pool complex is great for kids, lots of slides and activities but as others have said, sun beds were limited and the if you managed to get one, they are quite uncomfortable. The bar was great, food was nice and reasonably priced. Every night there was entertainment for the kids which they loved. There is also a big park on site which was really good. There is a big supermarket right outside the site and a lovely bakery. The beach is a very short walk away. The surrounding area is ok not great, the few restaurants there were quite basic and it's very touristy. We went into st jean de monts a few times which is only 5 mins drive and it was much nicer with some lovely restaurants. The caravan we had was very small and basic, it was quite dirty when we arrived with stains on the floor. I felt like it hadn't really been cleaned. The kids club times were 10-12am and 4-6pm but it wasn't on every day so some days there was no kids club and other days they only ran one session. This annoyed us because we had paid extra to go with thomson for the kids club. Also, there was only one rep available for the kids club so there were only 8 spaces which meant some kids couldn't attend. The weather wasn't great, cloudy a few days and it rained twice, a few sunny days. We went to zoo des sables one day and that was well worth a visit. Apart from this there wasn't much else to do in the area when the weather was bad. Overall we had a really good holiday and thought the campsite was great with excellent facilities. We weren't happy with Thomson though and wish we had travelled with someone else - eurocamp vans looked good and their kids club looked much better. We would do this type of holiday again but definately not with Thomson
