This is clearly one of the older Ibis's in a rather unattractive area of Amiens. I think this may have been a Novotel in a previous life. Arrived on sunday which never gives a good indication as to how Amiens might behave. Nothing open so stock up 'en-route'!

Amiens is patchy, but does has some great architecture.

Check-in good, room ok and well used. Bar and restaurant open on sunday and food and drink fine as was breakfast! Secure parking under building 7 euro.

To sum up as place to lay your head it is fine! Ibis at its basics!

I'd say the other reviews of this hotel are pretty much accurate. Amiens is a busy town and a large percentage of the town centre is pedestrianised. Cars are actively discouraged. This has resulted in the traffic being funnelled into a small number of grimy, horrid streets full of noisy traffic. The Ibishotel is situated on one of these streets, BUT it's location is excellent for tourists. The cathedral is a short walk away, as is the Jules Verne house, which is well worth a visit. It's not really feasible to use a car in Central Amiens- (although plenty of the residents do, whilst at the same time displaying a lot of inconsiderate impatience).
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance, also a surprisingly pleasant park ( St. Pierre) and an interesting area called "les hortillonages" which I didn't really understand the purpose of but which is full of ducks, canals and allotments.

The hotel is VERY clean. Our room was at the back, which I think would be quieter as you are away from the relentless racket of pizza delivery scooters. We were overlooking a school playground of some sort. The room was small, and the 2 towels provided were very small also. Apparently this is because Ibis hotels want to plant a million trees or something. When we asked for extra towels, it became obvious that this request was unacceptable. We ended up buying an extra towel from the shop next door!

No hairdryer either, but one is available from reception. When we borrowed it we were
sternly informed that a 30 euro deposit would be added to our bill, to ensure its safe
return. Furthermore, we had to return it first thing next morning in case someone else
wanted to borrow it!

One amusing aspect of this hotel is that one of the lifts is absurdly tiny. It measures
approx. 2 feet 6 inches by 3 feet 6 inches but is rated for 4 ( friendly?) persons....

Breakfasts are good. It is an "eat all you want" buffet, continental of course. The
restaurant also serves evening meals which are of an acceptable standard although one chicken dish did appear to have been re-heated. They also have a limited 24- hour room service menu.

If you feel you must take a car into central Amiens, ( and I for one will certainly never be doing THAT again) it becomes immediately obvious that parking is a big issue. Fortunately the hotel have a secure underground car park, deep in the catacombs, in the bowels of the earth for the sum of 7 euros per night. The access ramps are absolutely tiny, as are the parking spaces. I think you'd struggle to get anything much larger than a vw golf down there.

To summarise I'd say that this is a good, clean business hotel which is also perfectly
acceptable for tourists. Amiens is a nice town but the traffic is killing it. However once you are into the pedestrianised areas, it is very pleasant indeed.

As most other reviews - the hotel is rather tipical Ibis style French hotel - no frills, all standartised and not issues for service.

Define pluses

For us was free parking near the hotel - pure luck, yet helpfull receptionist ppointed this out for us, otherwise we would have to use the garage of Ibis
View from our window - 5 starts as you can see the hotel "flying" over the city - from the 5th floor it was amasing
Friendly and helpful staff - not always a case for IBISes in France

Minuses

No free internet
Smell of detergents all over the rooms and coridors

Sleep was ok, value for money is OK especially if you book in advance. Recomended for short stay in Amiens

If you have ever stayed at an Ibis Hotel in France you will you what t expect, and that is exactly what you get. Close to the centre, basic, clean, not fancy and definity not expensive. The hotel has a parking garage (your SUV wont fit though) and Ibis clients get a discount. The centre of Amiens is in walking distance from the hotel.

You know where you are with Ibis - reasonable comfort, clean, no frills and modest cost. It is located quite close to the main attractions in the city centre, although the road itself is distincly non-touristy My room on the top floor had a good view of the Cathedral . Although facing the street it was not noisy and I was at the far end of the corridor from the lift so there was little internal noise. Breakfast was fine, except one day when I coincide with a tour group who were taking a lot of time at the coffee machine and orange juice ran out for a while. Staff were friendly and professional.
Nearby there is a very good restaurant, Bistrot Louis, that I recommend.

We stayed here one night as a transitional point to drive out to the cathedral & Somme battlefields. We had a bit of trouble finding it, as well as getting from the street to parking lot to our rooms, but otherwise there were no problems. We ate dinner & breakfast there--it was reasonably priced and they had a pretty decent restaurant for a hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was all that we needed. It had good proximity to the main roads, and people staying there might want to walk to the cathedral if they have the time, as it's not too far, and driving & parking in downtown Amiens is no fun!
