“Well located hotel”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Stayed March 2013 on a trip to visit the battlefields. The hotel is centrally located, and well within walking distance of the restaurants and bars in the city centre. The rooms are a reasonable size, small bathrooms (mine was a bit "tired") but were spotlessly clean and warm. The bar served beer but isn't a destination in its own right! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast were excellent, and enough to set up 6 men for a cycling trip around the battlefields in freezing weather!
There is a public carpark directly opposite.
This is much better than a "no frills" hotel, but I preferred the Mercure Amiens Cathedral if the budget will stretch that bit further.

This is your typical budget stop-over hotel chain. Claen efficient and functional in the centre of Amiens close to the cathedral. Rooms small but clean and quiet, plenty of local restaurants and bars to eat out within walking distance.

We found the ibis styles hotel after a web search. It's in a good city centre location, a short walk from both the Cathedral, riverside restaurants and main shopping street. Included Wifi, breakfast and free tea/coffee (in the lobby) make it reasonable value, although still dear for an 'economy plus' hotel. Parking is poor close to the hotel, although we struck lucky both nights we were there. Parking is free on-street from 7pm till 9am, but you need to feed the meter with coins after that time. The rooms are smallish but fine and clean. The only faults we had were some broken floor tiles and stained grouting near the bath, and a slightly broken curtain (partially separated from its rail), which consequently leaked some light at night.

Everything else was fine, and the modern bright colour décor is nice at the moment whilst it's newish. It's also much quieter than you might expect at night for a city centre (and our room was at the front of the building). The corridors are narrow and, although there is a small lift, it's not really suitable for disabled people.

The staff we met were very friendly and helpful, pointing things out, enquiring after our wellbeing and also speaking very good English (giving me little reason to try my schoolboy French!). I emailed them the night before we arrived to see if they could provide wheat-free bread for my wife, and it was duly provided the next morning at no extra cost.

I would stay there again for a short break, and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: We didn't need the a/c unit switched on, so test the noise it makes!

IBIS Styles Amiens is within a very old building, but that is hard to detect from the inside, unless you use the staircases rather than the lift!
Excellent breakfast buffet; Some free tea-making facilities close to the reception desk.
Amiens is a lovely city, with large areas of the centre close to the cathedral having survived World War II destruction. Charming canal and riverside houses in Flemish or Flandres style brick. The cathedral is stunning, one of France's largest and tallest.

It has a great location, very central and within walking distance to Notre Dame, shopping areas and tourist sites. There is a Velam bike hire rack just outside the hotel which makes it very easy to get around. As well as the St Leu district for the foodies, a cycle along the Somme (Les Hortillonnages) is well worth it.

The room was big (for a single person - four could sleep comfortably)) and everything worked as promised (TV, WiFi etc). The breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable and the staff friendly and helpful - even during the daytime fire drill which entailed vacating all the rooms.

Good value for money. Will return.

If just the two of us had stayed in this hotel we would have been satisfied.
The room is nice, good bed, location great, staff is very friendly and helpfull.
When we made the reservation, we asked for a room for 3 adults. There was 1 room with a very good extra bed for the third person. As we arrived we found out that in this room the toilet could not flush. Why did we have to find out? Why did not notice the cleaning lady this failure?
The staff was very helpfull and we got another room. In this room the extra bed was a foldable. This might be good for a child but not for an adult, or a grown-up.
We accepted the room and complainted the next morning. Maybe that was too late. If we had complaint right away they might have given us a second room.
And, we would have rated this hotel higher.

Decided to take two day driving visit to France at short notice -choosing to visit Amiens for no particular reason other than it look pleasant with an impressive cathedral. This hotel is ideally located very close to the town centre and sights, parking was cheap and easy. Room was small, but functional and clean. It had everything you needed for a comfortable stopover location at a reasonable price. Free wifi and access to public desktop made life easy when researching, and the inclusive breakfast delivered what you needed for the day. Staff where friendly and very helpful with local information.Stayed on a Sunday night and woken early Monday morning by the noise of refuge lorries make collections. A minor issue but to be expected if you stop off in a town centre. Worth a visit for practical travelers, would use again and recommend to friends

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a room away from lift which i expect by its age is very noisy if your room is...
