“Great hotel in the heart of the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

We booked the hotel as a base whist touring the Somme battlefields, we stayed on the top floor in the old side of the hotel in the Chalet room which was both luxurious and spacious.
Estelle very kindly recommended a location for an evening meal and sorted out a reservation both of which were much appreciated.
The hotel is modern, clean, luxurious and benefits from a very personal touch from all involved and we would recommend very highly.

Room Tip: Parking is limited so be sure to book a space

The hotel is actually easy to find with an up to date SatNav, centrally located and within easy walking distance of the cathedral, the riverside area and many bars and restaurants. The welcome was everything that has been described by other reviewers, and Estelle could not have been more helpful in booking restaurants for us in the evenings. The car park is small, but well worth the reasonable fee in order to have your vehicle right at hand. Our room was large and very well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, if perhaps a little expensive - but that is a very minor comment on what is a really excellent, beautifully appointed and very well run hotel. Amiens is not perhaps the most beautiful city in the world (the cathedral apart), but this hotel really stands out as being of a very high standard. It is still fairly new, and I hope it is successful - it deserves to be. Good luck!

This hotel is right in the centre of the action. It was about a five minute walk to the cathedral and the same to town.
The hotel itself is extremely pleasant with original art work on the wall and a nice modern Twist to its historical surroundings.
Very good bed fantastic bathroom with separate bath and shower.
We did not have breakfast so cannot comment.
Staff were courteous and effective.

We visited with family while touring the Somme battle sites. This hotel is a gem. A wonderful boutique hotel in the centre of Amiens, and just a short walk from the cathedral and riverside bars. The hotel owner Estelle is most welcoming, and very helpful in giving local advice. She made a booking for us at a very good local restaurant for dinner, on arrival.

Our room was particularly smart, modern, clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom.

We especially enjoyed the champagne bar! Breakfast the next morning was very good indeed.

Highly recommended!

Note that parking nearby is restricted. We managed to find a meter, being a weekend. Estelle very kindly topped up the meter for us to see us through to the evening, while we took in the sights. That is service!

Room Tip: We chose a bathroom with a bath and separate shower, rather than just a shower, so the bathroom was...

We began planning our trip to Amiens in December 2013 for an American friend's wedding to a French man. After visiting Hotel Marotte’s website and reading the reviews, I knew it was the right place for us. We were coming to Amiens for a 5 night stay but the hotel was booked for one of our 5 nights so I communicated via email with Estelle. At the very last moment I learned of a cancellation on the one day during our stay the hotel was sold out. Estelle emailed me that we would be able to remain at the hotel for our entire stay. I've have the pleasure of staying at the top hotels around the world, and Hotel Marotte is equal to or better than many of those hotels. Estelle and Olivier and their staff were AMAZING! Their detail to attention was incredible. We love modern boutique hotels and Hotel Marotte is one of a kind. Historical building and Modern furnishings with exquisite design made this hotel one of my favorites of all time. Estelle gave us a wonderful tour of the hotel and showed us the amazing before and after construction photos. Breakfast was wonderful. The rooms were clean, beautiful and well appointed. The location perfect along with the ease of this 5 star hotel made our trip very memorable. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. You won't be disappointed. Book it now! Thank you to all at Hotel Marotte for everything you did in making our stay fantastic.

Cher Monsieur,

We stayed at Hotel Marotte with our teenage sons and loved the property. It's in a wonderful location just off the central pedestrian boulevard in Amiens and is an easy walk from the key sights of Amiens as well as the restaurants and shops.
From the moment we arrived, Estelle was very friendly and helpful with her advice and her attention to detail is evident in the hotel rooms, which are superb. Not only are the bedrooms spacious and very well appointed, the ensuite bathrooms are large with great bath tubs.
As a family of four we particularly appreciated the fact that our two rooms shared a small foyer, creating more of an apartment feel.
Comfortable as they are, don't spend all the time in your rooms - the downstairs lounge is a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of Champagne!

We started our 3 week trip to France at this beautifully appointed, peaceful hotel. Having driven straight from Charles de Gaulle after a 24 hour flight we too experienced some difficulty in finding the Marotte. Luckily it was a Sunday so it was easy to park the car and walk 'cross country' to the hotel. Estelle happily accompanied us back to the car and directed us to the hotel where we had booked parking inside (recommended). Luckily, we didn't need to move the car again until our departure 2 days hence! Lunch can be difficult to find on a Sunday in Amiens so Estelle organised a pizza for us which we ate in the comfort of the dining room. We had the full breakfast each day which, while not cheap, was fullsome and kept us going for the day. The quantity and quality of the food provided certainly justified the price, and we were always offered additional servings etc. This boutique hotel is extremely well fitted out - as other reviewers have detailed- and Estelle and her husband are wonderful hosts. They deserve to do well with their business. Yes, there are cheaper accommodation options in Amiens, but you get what you pay for and the quality here is more than commensurate with the price. No detail is overlooked - including assistance with your luggage, if required. If I was ever fortunate enough to be in Amiens again, I would definitely stay at Hotel Marotte.
