“Wonderful, peaceful place to stay.”

I am delighted to recommend ‘Zeninpicardy’ in the small village of Fossemanent. It is a lovely, well-equipped house run by a very friendly and helpful family. If it is dry and sunny you have the use of the patio and garden (plus swings etc). It is very secure for parking, but only a short drive from Amiens. The kitchen is about right for two people preparing, but tight for four! However, the wonderful cooker/hob, the super fridge/freezer and all the rest of the equipment make it excellent for use. The main bathroom is just as luxurious. All the rooms are well-furnished and spotlessly clean.
The hosts will be able to give any information needed about food shopping, restaurants and places to visit in the area. Amiens has lots of parking, many interesting places close to the Cathedral (and Office de Tourisme) and hundreds of restaurants, though perhaps the nicest are not by the river. Being in the Somme area, there are so many thought-provoking memorials of 1914-18, several near the small town of Albert.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our home and gardens (and with sunny weather!) It’s also obvious that you made good use of your time to visit the area - you are an expert now on places to visit yourself! You describe the kitchen so well - of course during the warmer months we also have the gas barbecue and rattan dining set on the deck to expand the cooking space. Hope you can stop by again someday!

“Perfect location to explore WW1 sites”
Reviewed 3 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed in this lovely high spec cottage with its great view for a busy few days exploring the WW1 sites. The cottage was very easy to find and exceeded our expectations. Thank you to Craig and Celine for all the unexpected extras, particularly lending us bikes. There's a great cycle route very close to the cottage.

We’re glad you found us so easily, and profited from our location to visit the nearby WWI sites. Happy to lend the bikes to explore the verdurous countryside of Picardy on the popular 17 km (10 mile) cycling path meters from our home. You’re always welcome to return!

“Great location, lovely little village, quality accommodation and very helpful owners”

We stayed for two nights which wasn't long enough to explore this lovely area of France which is ideally located to explore the World War 1 sites and Amiens. Craig and Celene were very accommodating going out of their way to provide us information and make our stay as pleasant as possible.

The quality accommodation was on the upper level, spacious, clean and has a nice view of the surrounding countryside.

Thanks Craig and Celene

“Great place to explore Northern France or simply relax.”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

My wife our two children and I enjoyed a fabulous five night stay at Zen in Picardie in early May this year. Craig, Celine and their two beautiful daughters were the perfect hosts.

The house has every modern amenity that we could imagine and the house was spotlessly clean. Some of the features include free wifi, central heating, a spar, great modern kitchn and bathrooms as well as cable tv which all enhance our stay.

The front and rear gardens and beautifully planned and maintained and the views from the front windows and verandah are breathtaking.
Our kids were grateful for the access to bikes and were able to cycle to a great little country patisserie in the next village just a short ride away.

This was a fantastic place to relax after a hectic couple of weeks travelling. It is a great base to explore the WW1 battlefields and the region has particular significance for Australia as it it very close to Bullecourt, Villers -Bretonneux, Pozieres and Fromelles. I would recommend the house for any Australian wanting to visit the region and there are some great tour companies available for guided tours.

Craig and Celine are both english speaking which is a great benefit for tour advice for those who don't have great French.

Our only regret was that we could not stay longer however we intend to return in the no too distant future.

Thanks so much! Since your visit we’ve added Apple TV and Netflix (yes, our internet speed is improving) to give more variety to the many English news channels found on the Sat box and our DVD's. Our bikes are still available (for free) to visit the patisserie in Plachy-Buyon where you’ll find the best croissants in the region! For those visitng the WWI commemoration sites, we would be happy to recommend sevaral tour guides based on our past guests’ comments. Look forward to your return visit Nick!

“Lovely home in Picardie”
Reviewed 1 June 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We stayed ten days in Celine and Craig’s lovely home which is exactly as described with everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. Added bonuses were a welcome basket which included croissants, jam, pâté and wine, and also a beautiful garden and delightful views from the house. The location is ideal for visiting the Somme area. Celine, Craig, Hayley and Stacey are a delightful family and we highly recommend staying with them.

What makes a stay enjoyable depends so much on the hosts. At Zeninpicardie, Celine and Craig could not have been more welcoming or hospitable during our stay in June '13. Our dual purpose was to relax in comfortable surroundings and visit the historic sites of the WW1 battlefields and Amiens itself. This location (in a hamlet just a few kilometres south of Amiens) the excellent accomodation with all the comforts filled the bill admirably.

As much as hosts make for an enjoyable stay, guests make for a pleasant passage. We learned a lot about hosting from Tony and his wonderful wife, from providing “tea towels” (minimum 2) to making sure there is a hand shower and all dishware is in 6’s (we now have both). Thanks so much for helping us improve our guest experience! It’s led us to 5-star service!
