Right in the centre of town near the shops, restaurants and Cathedral. Comfortable room, nice ensuite. Free wireless. No hassle.

Our carpet in the bedroom was wet after using the shower. Water was dripping in the stairwell. The location was good, the price was right, and the breakfast was decent.

I stayed at this hotel for one night with two friends, this was the weekend when the snow had shut down the Eurostar and caused travel chaos. We were at least an hour late for our check in due to the hazardous driving conditions and my phone was not working in France, so we had been unable to call and let them know we were on our way. Despite this Christine had sat waiting for us and when we arrived at 2015, she gave us a very warm welcome and was extremely concerned about our safety. Our rooms although basic were clean, warm and spacious, and full of french charm. The location ws excellent, just around the corner from the Cathedral and a short walk to the St Leu district which is full of resturants in a very pretty setting along the canal. In the morning the breakfast was served by the gentleman owner who was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, typical continental breakfast. I would recommend this hotel and look forward to returning. The parking was also easy and even though I parked on the street, it was easy to find a spot close to the hotel and it was free from 19.00 overnight until 09.00 am. Who could ask for more!

We stayed as a family for one night at the hotel. The hotel is simple and basic but has a typical French charm. Narrow stairs, creaking floor boards and simple furnishings. The proprieter was charming, breakfast was coffee, baguettes, cheese and jam.

The hotel is ideally located in the shadow of the Cathedral.

If you want typically french then this hotel will be ideal, if not go else where.

The hotel is clean and well decorated. A bit basic. My only problem was with the hotelier who was rather unhelpful, would not put herself out for her guests in the slightest, and when she did, charged us an exorbitant amount of money to do a bit of laundry.

Very close to the cathedral and St Leu (mind you Amiens is pretty small, so I would imagine pretty much every hotel could put that on its C.V.), anyway it's clean but don't expect any favours from the Hotelier that's for sure.

This is a quaint little hotel very close to the Amiens Cathedral and well within walking distance of the rail station. My room was on the top floor, with a view of the cathedral and surrounding houses. The room and bathroom were spotless and nicely decorated. Breakfast was served in a small room on the ground floor. The top floor rooms are up very narrow and steep stairs so people booking this hotel should be aware that if they find stairs difficult or are intending to use large luggage, they should request rooms on the lower floors.

  • Liked — rooms, convenience to transport

Guide books and forums sometimes speak of this hotel in the delightful town of Amiens as being unusually "quaint", "welcoming" and so on. We were here for three nights, on our second visit in six months to Amiens, and didn't find it quite as we expected. Two-star hotels in French towns are the norm for us, and so it wasn't that we expected luxury or even unusual comfort. The Victor Hugo is extremely well-patronised, always full , but it shuts down as early as six in the evening, and has an entry code system that is not all that reliable. To find yourself apparently locked out, with no staff on duty, is disturbing. After a few tries, one gets the knack of entering the code and promptly hurling ones full weight against the door. Rooms are simple, but pleasant enough, and spotless. The staircase is extremely steep, so if this is a problem one should ask for a lower floor room. On the whole, we wouldn't go back. La Prieure costs a bit more, but is better all round, and I'm sure the Alsace Lorraine is also more appealing. It has the disadvantage of not having any reception after noon on Sundays, and as that was the day we were arriving, we chose the Victor Hugo.
