Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Established in Calais, inside an authentic nineteenth century lace factory, the Museum of Lace and Fashion is a specialist museum for the famous lace woven on looms. A museum of both fashion and industry, its vast galleries present the techniques, the lingerie and haute couture associated with this prestigious textile, as well as its most contemporary aspects. The high point of a visit to this important museum is to discover the lace weaving looms in operation, those monumental cast iron machines that produce this exceptional fabric.

Superb display, interesting explanations from the people operating the upstairs machines. Awful service from the staff at the entrance.

“Very interesting”
Reviewed 3 September 2012

Great place to spend a couple of hours whilst in Calais.
There are demonstrations of the machines in action at set times during the day.
Well worth the 5 euro admission fee.
Good cafe too.
The museum is closed every Tuesday.

“Must see”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

Great place to visit. Find out more than we know. Its interesting to learn more about laces and even try to make some by your self. ticket would cost proximately 6£, but if you will get a pass ''Escales Calaisis'' which cost 11 Euros -you will go into all paid attractions with it. That pass provides free/much cheaper entrance in lots of places.
