“Excellent staff”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Stayed with a school party of 10 and 11-year olds at the start of June, and we were all really impressed with the way we were treated by the staff - so friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, rooms clean and the food was fantastic - roast chicken, lasagne, spaghetti bolognese; all stuff geared towards the kids, which was much appreciated after long days out. They were also really flexible when we got stuck in traffic one day and kept the food warm for us until we got back. Another bonus was the lovely sandy beach and park areas just a couple of minutes walk away from the hostel. Very impressed!

Tell people you are staying in a hostel and they look at you funny...but who cares when you get a great plot explore place like this!

We stayed her for 3 nights in two rooms connected by a bathroom. The rooms share the bathroom so if booked as single rooms, you share with next door..but as we were a family of 4..in the two rooms, it was a private bathroom (hope that makes sence).

The deal of the room (booked direct with the hostel) was superb....we paid for three nights what 1 night in a hotel would cost! The rooms we had were very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very pleasant. Breakfast was included and was high quality, buffet style euro fare. We also had dinner one night which was a set 3 course menu for 15euro included beer and wine!!!! The chef was superb!!! He had limited English and we have no French...but he was so happy to talk with us and make sure we had everything we needed. This guy loved his job and it showed...in fact, all the staff here were so nice and made a fuss of us and the kids.

Wifi was free and worked well...there was a table football and pool table as well a a huge library.

The beach is right across the road...and it was a great, huge, clean beach. We were lucky that we had hot days to enjoy it! The town is an easy and pleasant 10min walk from the hotel.

There was no downside to the hostel at all...and Calais all in all was nice and we enjoyed our stay...but Calais council need to sort out one major problem....dog mess everywhere!!!!!!!! It was like walking thru a mine field most of the time.

We will stay here again....and if you like a great deal for a superb place to stay...don't let the "hostel" title put you off!!

It was the second time at this hostel for me and ill be back. High ethic etap network standards. Breakfast included. Excellent wifi. Quiet sleep and a lot of space, included a library with books.
Unfortunately calais is not the nicest city - despite a museum in a world war ii bunker.

I stayed here for a night on a recent cycling trip.
On the plus side, it was very cheap, clean, friendly and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good - fresh bread, freshly-brewed coffee, jam, yoghurt, OJ, pretty much a standard continental breakfast. No croissants, but the freshly-made crepes were pretty good.
It is, however, a hostel. The rooms are a bit basic, and there's a shared bathroom between each pair of rooms. It reminded me of student flats more than anything. I wouldn't like to stay here for long, and I certainly wouldn't go with a partner. It's not a romantic place to stay at all, but for somewhere cheap and welcoming to spend the night, it ticks all the right boxes.
