“Good little hotel for a stopover”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

Stayed here either side of a holiday in Normandy as it's handy for the Tunnel. Our family of four found the room neat and tidy and the beds were firm but comfortable with a choice of pillows. The bathroom was not quite of the same standard - it was clean and functional, but could have done with a bit of a spruce up as it was looking a bit tired.

The area isn't bad, nice view of the harbour if you get a front facing room, but it smacks of being a port town and looked a bit grey and functional (not to forget the copious amounts of dog mess littered around the place). Having said that, just around the corner was a lovely boulangerie where we picked up breakfast for a lot less than the hotel charged. We did have one evening meal in the hotel, and it was reasonably priced and decent quality.

It had the usual chain hotel fare - tea making facilities, TV, mini bar, etc so was comfortable in those respects. The staff were also polite and friendly, if a little rushed during the evening meal service.

If we were stopping over again I wouldn't have any qualms about staying there again.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for choosing our hotel for your night in Calais.
I am very glad you enjoyed your stay and will forward your comments to our team.

I appreciate your comments regarding your breakfast at the baker's but not sure he could offer you a full buffet ??? Next time you stay with us, you can also choose to have a continental breakfast at a lower price than the buffet.

See you again and kind regards.

Spent the night as foot passengers with a 1 year old child. Location great if you don't have a car to beach town and restaurants also just $1 to bus to CityEurope barging :). The room was a good size and clean, breakfast was yummy and had a good variety witch is hard for my family to find with a vegetarian and an egg allergy. My only complaint was that the cot bed was missing a bolt and the hotel had run out of cots it would of just taken sum 1 5 min to look at it to find a new bolt then it would of been fixed. Bit all in all a lovely time had by all im sure we will visit again and would recommend you very highly.

Room Tip: rooms at front have sea views :)

Not the best of experience with Holiday Inn. Problems when booking and disappointed with the hotel. Reception area very small but given a pleasant and friendly welcome. The room was average but looked over the back of the hotel to garages and other buildings - not a good view. I understand rooms on the front of the hotel have a much better view over the sea. Not only was the reception very small but also was the dining area - it could not be called a restaurant and the bar area consisited of three bar stools. Bar staff did not understand promotions that were on offer.
The fod at breakfast was very limited and the cooked fare not at all good.
All in all a very disappointing stay for a Holiday Inn and may be better being branded a Holoiday Inn express.

Room Tip: Not a place to stay for more than one night as I am sure the majority of travellers do. Freindly rec...

I travel through France for business often and I would recommend this hotel as a nice place with friendly staff.
You are next to the town and good restaurants so you can forget your car.
A good all rounder hotel well worth the money.

We stopped here late one night after a long drive with our two young children. We arrived at 11pm, Check In was really fast at our request. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were really friendly. We had breakfast in the morning which was a help yourself affair with English breakfast or continental (or both in our case). It was perfect for what we wanted and we would stay again.

This was our first stay at this hotel but it will certainly not be our last .The booking on line was simple the reception staff were very helpful and our room was well appointed and clean ,lovely view of the boats . Breakfast was a very comprehensive buffet ,meats ,cheeses plus an assortment of breads and rolls ,yoghurts ,cereals and fruit as well as juice and coffe or tea.. The big plus for us was that we were able to book a secure garage which meant we did not have to take all our holiday luggage out of the car it was worth 12 euros[ someone mentioned 20 euros in a report but we only paid 12 ] ,there was plenty of parking in the road opposite the hotel but ? how secure .Also there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room

We stayed for one night as a stopover on the return leg of our holiday. We chose this hotel as it was close to the Eurotunnel and we had reward night points. The neighbourhood in which the hotel is situated did feel slightly unsafe and so we were nervous leaving our car parked on the street. There is a charge of 20 euros for secure parking, which was quite excessive. Street parking is free. The hotel itself we found to be nice enough. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. We had a family room which was large and had everything you would expect - toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer, mini bar. The TV also had numerous English channels. The bathroom was large and whilst dated was clean and functional. The only real let down to the hotel was the quality of the food in the restaurant. Whilst reasonably priced for a hotel, it was over-processed (pizza was hard) and didn't quite live up to description - the 'homemade chocolate souffle' was flat and more like a slightly undercooked Brownie. However, the staff were really friendly. Breakfast was offered to us at 10 euros per person for continental, there was a reasonable selection and we did not leave feeling hungry. There is free wifi throughout the hotel. This really is a no frills hotel, but just as a stop over in Calais, for the location it is situated in, I believe you could do a lot worse.

Room Tip: If you don't smoke avoid the 2nd floor as it absolutely reeks of smoke

Dear Madam,

Thank you for staying with and for your comments. They are very important to us.
I have noted your remarks regarding our food quality.
If I may, the secured parking cost is at 12 euros and as you say there is plenty of parking spaces available in the streets around the hotel.

We do hope you will visit us again in the future.
Kind regards
