Great park in the middle of Calais. Worth a walk around when the weather is nice and you can watch the locals playing french bowls aswell!

“Emma Hamilton's last resting place.”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

A lovely park with waterfalls, ponds and ducks. Beautifully planted and after passing through the town dozens of times over the years, my first visit on Saturday morning. The shade from the trees a relief from the blazing sun. The mistress of Admiral Lord Nelson, Emma Hamilton, was buried here although the area was devasted by shelling in WWI and II, and the grave lost. She escaped Britain with hefty tax debts and died in poverty and drunkeness. A memorial to her was erected by American enthusiasts in the 1990s. There was a lot of litter floating in some of the ponds and the male immigrants who use the park gave it a bit of a sinister feel. Still worth a visit.

“Calme in the bustle”

Take a few minutes to walk in this lovely park in the middle of town. Who would expect palm trees in Northern France!
