overall we had a good week in France the charisma holiday homes were OK and well appointed for the price.the campsite itself feels cramped due to most of the holiday homes having decks so the cars are parked at the front.didn't use the pool or bar area but they looked OK.we tried the take away pizza that's too was OK.

We stayed on La Dune des Sables campsite with Carisma for a week in June 2014 and were really happy with it. The caravans do seem to be very close together, but as we were out of season, our neighbouring caravans were vacant, so no problems there. The facilities seemed very good to us with a 4 year old- the swimming pool was nice and clean, the bar seemed good, and there was a little shop and launderette as well. The Carisma couriers were really good, and the bar and shop staff were really friendly too.
Accomodation wise, it was what you would realistically expect for a caravan. It was clean and in good order. Outside could do with a little bit of tidying, but again, I would expect them to be going that
The surrounding area was splendid, and the beach was beautiful. I think someone mentioned it was a little stony, but the views were really good, and it was virtually empty!

All in all a great holiday. I would definitely consider going again.

Room Tip: You really need to go for the Deluxe to get the best from the caravan.

We stayed on La Dune des Sables camping site with Carisma for one week from the 8th June 2014, it's was a bit quite on site (which what great for us ) it only seemed about a 3rd full which was surprising due to the location and cost of the holiday. The camp site has a beach at the bottom end which is great for the family it's rocky in some areas and the water can be rough great if you want to surf etc. La Sables ( about a 10 min drive from the site ) has plenty of shop in it's narrow streets leading up to the beach front with it's cafes/bars and resturants the beach is long deep and flat just great for the kids and the whole family. You should also try La Chaume this is on the opposite side to La Sables great cafes/bars and a litte bit quiter (take the turning before the bridge. The mobile home was clean fresh and look newish the staff were very welcoming and on hand for all your needs you will see them around the site all day great bunch. You should head down to the beach (the one on site) to see the sun set just fantastic with a few glasess of wine. There is a super market about 5 mins from site Super B. All in all a great time.
We had great weather very hot 30c. We went from Le Harve with stops 5hrs 30mins road were almost empty, great roads cost of tolls & bridge one way about 55 euros plus fuel.

We stayed in La Dune des Sables at the end of August 2013 and were overall really happy. We drove from the UK with our own touring caravan so cannot comment on the standard of onsite accommodation but they do seem VERY squashed. We were a bit worried on arrival as there were tents and caravans jammed in all over the place between the chalets and statics and it really didn't look great. We ended up with a really great sized pitch in a sort of cul-de-sac near the shower block so were really happy(and lucky!).

Apart from the space issue, the site is lovely. Spotlessly clean with great facilities - parks, restaurant and particularly the pool area were just brilliant. Always able to get a sunbed, despite it being peak season and we couldn't get my 8 year old off the slides. We found the pool bar cafe to be very good. Great food and ice-cold beer but not cheap.

The town is gorgeous but a little bit of trek if I am honest. There is a fantastic cycle track that takes you straight to it which is great in the daytime but if you want to go out for dinner and drinks it's a bit far. A taxi turned out to be pretty pricey too so not ideal for us.

You get your own key to a gate at the back of site which leads to a little private beach. This is lovely with plenty of rock pools to explore though it does have sharp sand. It also has a cracking rip current and no life guard so wouldn't advise more than a paddle! There is an enormous (and busy) beach at Les Sables which is beautiful - golden sand and much calmer sea.

We were planning to go back this summer on the proviso that we could have the same pitch but we were informed that they were changing the site so that there would be 'less spaces near the beach'. I am not sure what this means but given how crowded it already is, this put us off somewhat. We've decided to go to a different campsite but still with Chadotel. Their value for money seems to be unbeatable and we know from experience that their facilities are great.

We went to Les Sables as it was listed as Carisma's Number 1 site, as such we were a little disappointed when we arrived.
The site is very plain and looks a little unloved in places. It is right on the beach so I can accept it wont have a green and lush landscape but it was very very stark in most places.
The caravans are extremely tightly packed in and are at crazy angles so there is always windows from other caravans looking into your own van. We were in the 'B' area which had the slightly older caravans however they were listed as the luxury 3 bedroom vans. I would not risk going for anything less if our van was luxury! They also squeazed tent pitches in amongst the caravans so there was hardly any room for cars and it made the site look very crowded.
The bedroom are tiny so if you can travel light then do as there is little storage space. There is an on site launderette which means you can wash and dry your clothes really easily for around 8 euros and the machines are huge so will take big loads.
There is a Super U in La Chaume which is 5 minutes away. DO NOT GO TO THE LE'ECLERC on a MONDAY. It is like Christmas Eve in the UK........a total nightmare.
The poolside cafe is fine, nothing special and the bar is quite simple. Evening and Day entertainment is varied but only the singing is in English so the magicians, circus and other entertainers are interesting but you have to guess what is going on unless you are fluent in French.
The beach right outside the campsite is very gritty and does hurt your feet so you would need some kind of beach shoe, the currents are also VERY strong so be careful. There is a rock pool beach about a 10 minute walk out of the gate and to the left of the campsite which is lovely if you don't want to just lie and sunbath.
The Carisma reps were good and we had no issues.
Would we go back? No. The site was too unloved for us and the vans too small for our family's needs.

2013 had arrived and my family had not decided where to go for the family holiday, all we knew was that we were going to France..!

Having spent many holidays renting homes in France and the USA, we decided to take a chance and stay in a Caravan Park as the kids are now 8 years and under and need more to do on a daily basis than swim in a pool.

After researching many caravan parks, we decided on Camping La Dune des Sables.

Based in the suburbs of a town that we had visited in the past and liked, we jumped at the chance after being advised of the price of this facility.

Not knowing anything about the campsite before the holiday (bar what you see on the internet) we were a little nervous as to what we would find.

That being said is was a waste of our time worrying as this place had loads to offer.

The Mobile homes were large and clean.
The swimming pool was also large and clean with fun slides for all the family.
The campsite was also large and clean, with on site laundry facilities shop and restaurant and bar.

We arrived in the last week in June which is just before high season for this holiday park but none the less there were plenty of people around and if I am to be honest I possibly prefer it then, than when the park is full.

The staff were very friendly and tentative, when we had any questions they were very quick to respond and most days we would have a call from someone advising what was on offer for the children.

The park backs onto a beach and as mentioned earlier is in the suburbs to the main city, which in itself offers so much.

We are already attempting to arrange our next visit...!

Room Tip: Ask for a mobile home with decking, it helps eliminate too much sand entering the mobile home

Great site, with gate access to the beach.
We went with "lets go 2 france" " bed mobile with deck.
other operators include Carisma, Kel Air, French Freedom Holidays, Vacansoleil.
We were on site from the 9 to the 21 September which is at the end of the season. Consequently the pool was drained at the end of the first week. The bar, shop and take away all closed as well. However the cost for the two week was great vlaue for money and the lack of site facilites didnt bother us, as la la Chaume is a 20 min cycle on the cycle route. Also as it was end of season, the site was nice and relaxing and quiet.
Weather was mixed . Sun 1/3 , rain 1/3, overcast 1/3 which can be typical for September.
I'd rate the site as good/very good for our visit. Site was clean and well maintained.
