“Fascinating hotel”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

We needed accommodation between Paris and Bordeaux and pre-booked three rooms at this lovely hotel and even lovelier township. The rooms were comfortable and very private. One room was a huge, ground floor room that opened to an enchanting garden. The other two were upstairs and also quite spacious and well appointed. Unfortunately we had to leave early so couldn't use the breakfast facilities but they looked sufficiently continental. There is no lift here but that would be the only negative that I could find here. The Township of Niort is like something out of a postcard. It has lovely churches and a river with lovely parkland running alongside the town. I only wish we could have spent a little more time exploring the area.

Room Tip: Try for one of the ground floor garden rooms - they are delightful

We were making last minute reservations on a drive through France during August. Not a smart move, but it turned out to be lucky for us. This is a gem of a hotel. Our room was lovely and looked out over a private garden. We were within walking distance of the downtown of this beautiful small city. Parking inside the garden gates is available on a first come basis.
Breakfast was served inside or out and was self-serve, which suited us perfectly.
We liked it so well, we decided to stay an extra night. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was modern and well lit. I couldn't ask for more - except perhaps a better wifi set up.
We will stay here again on our next trip to the Cognac area.

We stayed here for three nights in October. The weather was not great but coming back to the hotel late afternoon/early evening for a couple of hours to relax was lovely. It was more like coming home then just checking in. The room we stayed in was a deluxe with tasteful decoration and an amazing shower. Tea making facilities were also a bonus. The breakfast was very good and in a nicely decorated room which also leads on to a sitting area with books and magazines. All staff were very polite and helpful. Niort is not a bustling town but once you start exploring on foot there are some lovely walks, good restaurants and shops and a good library. You can reach the centre of town in 10 minutes by either walking down by the river or through the town. Our room was at the front of the hotel and it is a busy road but the noise is not bad. There is a car park but probably not big enough to accommodate everyone when the hotel is full, therefore, i understand why a charge is made, however, 7 euros is perhaps a bit high? Overall we really loved this hotel and would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a 'breathing space' stopover while travelling between two areas of France. While finding this small hotel can be a little tricky, on entering the foyer we were immediately won over by the chic charm, lovely common areas and general ambience. Our second floor room (no lift) was huge, imaginatively decorated (- in a good way!) and very, very comfortable.
Breakfast was simple but tasty and could be taken in the lounge/dining area or out on the terrace. Within easy walking distance to the centre of town and a great children's park it suited us very well. The one reservation we had was that as in many small hotels there is often not anyone 'front of house' for the quieter parts of the day there was also no obvious way of raising someone when assistance was required other than opening the door to their adjoining living quarters and calling out over and over. They might be fine with that but I found it a little disconcerting. Overall though we found this a lovely hotel and would happily reccomend.

This hotel is a gorgeous boutique hotel near to the old town in Niort. The owner was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Due to flight delays we arrived after the reception closed but he arranged to return to check us in. He also provided a map of the local area so we could find nearby restaurants.
Our room was on the first floor. It was very spacious with lovely decor. The whole hotel is decorated to a high standard.
The breakfast was a very tasty continental one and the service was very attentive.
Overall a lovely hotel that we would definitely return to.

I stayed on the top floor. Rooms have A/C and you need it as the top floors are under the roof. If you want to open the window you'll have to tolerate the noisy traffic (very busy street with incoming traffic). Hotel has been tastefully restored in grey tones. Rooms are clean. The double comfort rooms on the top floor are rather small. There is an iron and board, coffee maker, wifi. No fridge. Rate of I believe 92 euros should include breakfast (charged extra at 13 euros).
I parked outside on a side street. You can make a nice jog along the canal / river nearby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the backside you'll look at the old prison and it will be less noisy than the...

Reception not the friendliest, no snacks or drinks avaiable.

Hotel furnishings and rooms really well done but front rooms suffer badly from traffic noise.
