“Absolutely stunning property + sweetest owner”
Reviewed 23 May 2012

My husband and I recently honeymooned in France and stayed at Maison 9 in Cassis for 2 nights in May. The large property is a located in the hills of Cassis and is a restored 300-yr old farmhouse - one of the most well-designed and beautiful hotels I have ever seen. We felt like we were staying at a friend's estate. Our "apartment" was lovely and had a view of the vineyards from the bathroom. We spent a lot of time there, enjoying the view, pool and serene style. Breakfast was served each morning - a huge spread of food and Provencal style. It was truly amazing. If you get a chance to visit Cassis, you must stay here.

Room Tip: We had a rental car, which made driving around the area super easy. The hotel is not right by the be...

After reading the amazing reviews of this B&B, my husband and I decided to book a few nights stay for our honeymoon. After visiting some European cities before hand, we were surly looking forward to a relaxing stay at Maison 9.
From the moment we arrived on the property, the staff greeted us with open arms and were thrilled to have us. There service was truly authentic and outstanding throughout our stay. They pay attention to the needs and differences of their guests; making each experience unique and memorable.
The place itself, outstanding. No detail was spared in the rooms or the grounds and the place is spotless.
I could go on, but you really have to see this place for yourself to understand it's beauty, and the feeling you get while there.
We can't wait to visit again !

Went here with my wife for a relaxing week of vacation in August 2011. Small B&B...5 rooms in total. We had a small guest house about 20 yards from the main house which made us feel like the only guests at the property. The guest house had a little courtyard with a table and two chairs...great place to enjoy a baguette, cheese and glass of wine. The service was amazing. Waking up to breakfast was probably one of the highlights of the day.

The views are beautiful...the property is surrounded by vineyards. It is only a short walk (~15 mins) into town where you can get everything you need from restaurants to shops to the beach, etc.

Probably the only thing I can complain about was that WiFi did not reach our room so it was a bit hard to stay connected. Not sure that was such a bad thing in the end!

This is a little luxury bolt-hole that I'm dreaming about returning to next summer. Only a 10-minute walk into Cassis, this luxury maison d’hotes, fully renovated by a German couple in 2009, is situated in the middle of vineyards looking across to the Cap Canaille. With only four suites located apart from the main house, the feeling is one of peace, tranquillity: it’s the perfect place for serious grown-up relaxation. Beautifully decorated rooms have fantastic beds, small sofas, lovely large bathrooms with walk-in showers and a small kitchenette with espresso maker. The mini-bar contains free wine and water and each suite has its own private terrace.

My husband and I stayed at Maison 9 at the end of October. Having spent three nights in Carcassonne we were looking forward to five days and nights of pure relaxation. This place certainly delivered on that front!

We absolutely loved Maison 9 - it was better than we could of hoped for. It is a wonderfully designed property in a beautiful setting - the views of vineyards was stunning. The breakfasts were amazing and the hospitality was very good. It was a particular treat to meet the owner of the property on the last day of our stay.

We have stayed in some lovely hotels and B&Bs over the years, some of which I have highly rated on Trip Advisor. Where Maison 9 is different, is that this is the first time I have said to my husband 'we will definitely be coming back here'.

Where to start ? it's hard to add to the comments from other reviewers, as they have used all of the superlatives, but we feel we have to add our endorsement of Maison 9.
Breakfasts, accommodation, hospitality etc - everything was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our week here in late October. Its clear that the Maison 9 experience doesn't just rely on its location and facilities, but also on the people that look after the guests. Christel and the team were extremely friendly and welcoming, as was Cynthia Maus when we met her near the end of our stay. Its rare that we stay anywhere for more than a few days on our travels but a week at Maison 9 was perfect. Thoroughly recommended, wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Room Tip: All rooms of an excellent standard. We had room 3 which was the only one with stairs.

there are so many wonderful things to share about Maison 9. I can say with certainty we would recommend it to almost anyone going to see Cassis with a couple of caveats. The location and views are stunning although it is important to note that the Maison is a good 15 minute walk (up hill on the return) from the waterfront. We were warmly greeted and welcomed on our arrival after having some difficulty actually locating the property. Honestly, I could have just lounged on the property for 2 days but my husband was less inclined to just relax there.
Our room was lovely BUT it was a smallish loft or two level and involved descending a steep set of stairs to reach our luxurious bathroom- I do wish I had known about this in advance. I think there is only one room like that so if knees or hips (like mine) are troublesome, you need to make sure you don't have this room. The pool is beautiful and impeccably maintained as the whole property appears to be- lovingly attended.
Each morning we enjoyed the most wonderful breakfast out on the terrace and overlooking the vineyards and the countryside. We did not meet the owner as she apparently visits rarely and was expected shortly after our stay. But, Christel, the Manager, filled that role very nicely.
My only other comment would be that the Maison website should probably be updated to reflect the check in policy. Even though it states 3:00 is the check-in, because Christel does not live on the property, it is necessary to negotiate arrival times. You will not be sorry if you make this a part of your Cassis vacation!
