“Excellent dinner and great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2011

I had a very enjoyable evening here with my family. The service and food were excellent and the atmosphere great. Good quality ingredients served in exciting and inviting way. I chose the Menu 25e, which turned out to be one of the best meals I've had in a while. We were also seated outside which added to the atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

“One of the best meals of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2011

The new owner has done a superb job of providing a warm welcome and excellent food. The menu is small but the choices are varied and very appealing. The food was so well prepared and the timing and service were perfect. A charming, period dining room and outdoor tables as well. I wish we had discovered this restaurant at the beginning of our trip. We shall return next year.

“Great warm service, lovely food- best restaurant in the street”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2011

Dining with our 1year old, who was given star service, we turned up unannounced 8.30pm & seated at last available table in the fresh air. They managed to provide a warm friendly even romantic atmosphere for us despite our toddling distraction. Street music just added to the ambiance. Food good & prompt in arrival. Plan to return in the future

“Dreadful. We walked out.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2009

We went to this place because it was mentioned in the Rough guide, usually quite reliable. It looked attractive enough, indeed rather better than most of the restaurants around there. We arrived at exactly 8.00 pm and were shown to a pleasant table. It was then 5 minutes before they came and took a drinks order and brought us the menu and another 15 minutes before they actually took our order. We then waited about 25 minutes for the starters, which were indifferent and overpriced, and which we ate swiftly, by then being pretty hungry. By 9.30 we still had not got our main course and had almost lost the will to live, so we got the bill and left.

There was no excuse. There were plenty of serving staff. The only thing the waiter said when he eventually brought the bill was that it was not his fault. If there was a problem in the kitchen they should have come and told us about it. They didn't. They should have waived the bill in the circumstances, but didn't do so.
