When in Saint Tropez you cannot miss a visit to Pampelonne beach. There is a large parking area but get there early in the afternoon during peak season to get a parking spot. There are several beach clubs that offer full service amenities (lounge chairs, umbrellas, drinks, etc.) for a fee. We chose Key West Beach Club and paid 25 euro per person for a lounge chair and umbrella. The beach is clean and the water is clear and calm. The view is beautiful and many yachts anchor in the area. Pampelonne Beach was one of the highlights of my visit to Saint Tropez.

It was really nice to visit this beach, nice restaurants and bars. Not very cheap tho. A lot of activities. Beautiful beach but the water was cold and not very clean and had jelly fish.

We went there in the maison Blanca beach. Beautiful place with very high standard service and average restaurant. In any case as you go there mainly for the beach the place is very good.

The positives: 5 kilometres of sandy beach and usually good waters, the real gem of the St Tropez area with an incomparable atmosphere, dotted with stylish restaurants (not cheap and must reserve during the high season), large car park down Boulevard Patch usually with spaces as long as you arrive early (Euro 4.60 per day) and advise not to leave at peak time as long queue of cars to get back up to main road. Not over developed with buildings and large hotel monstrosities along the beach like Cannes and Nice, no ugly snack bars, lots of public areas to avoid expensive private lounging areas, relatively few vendors and photographers who don't hassle you. Good for kids of all ages, with sandy seabed and a gradual decline in depth. The negatives: regulars tend to get the good tables in restaurants during the high season, most restaurants are expensive, private beach loungers can cost up to Euro40 per day each. Also been a few infestations of jellyfish in the last few years. Note for the 2018 season: my understanding is that all restaurants will be removed except 3 or 4 of them to resite them further back from the beach to create more public beach space and for environmental reasons. Many will return, maybe relocated elsewhere along the beach and rebuild with removable temporary structures as before that will come down completely between summer seasons, others will lose their lease. At the time of writing, most restaurants won't know for another or two month which establishments will retain their lease and be back next year so a period of uncertainty for now and things could look very different next year after this big upheaval. However, the beach will be wider and restaurants more discrete and out of the way. Highlights in the area: watch the July 14th fireworks from the beach, Les Voiles de St Tropez sailing race (end of Sept/early Oct).
